UFC Fight Night Albuquerque Gets Bantamweights Sergio Pettis, Yaotzin Meza

A new bantamweight showdown has been added to the UFC’s upcoming debut in New Mexico, as Sergio Pettis will collide with Yaotzin Meza on June 7.

UFC officials Wednesday announced the booking, which takes place at the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque. The event will serve as a UFC Fight Night show and is headlined by a lightweight clash pitting former champion Benson Henderson against once-beaten Dagestani Rustam Khabilov.

Pettis will step back into the Octagon for the first time since suffering his inaugural defeat at the hands of Alex Caceres this past January. The younger brother of reigning UFC lightweight king Anthony Pettis, the 20-year-old made a successful UFC debut this past November on the heels of nine straight wins, earning a unanimous decision over veteran Will Campuzano at UFC 167.

Meza, meanwhile, looks to rebound from a decision defeat to Pettis’ former Roufusport teammate, Chico Camus, who bested Meza at UFC on Fox 10. The 33-year-old owns 29 pro bouts to his credit but has gone just 1-2 since joining the UFC, sandwiching a victory over John Albert between his losses to Chad Mendes and Camus.
