UFC Fight Night 36 Gets Francisco Trinaldo-Jesse Ronson Lightweight Pairing

”Massaranduba” returns to the Octagon on Feb. 15. | Gleidson Venga/Sherdog.com

A lightweight showdown between Francisco Trinaldo and Jesse Ronson has been added to the developing UFC Fight Night 36 bill.

UFC officials recently announced the booking, which takes place at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil. The Feb. 15 show is headlined by a middleweight clash between former UFC light heavyweight king Lyoto Machida and onetime Strikeforce ruler Gegard Mousasi and is expected to air live on Fox Sports 1.

Trinaldo, 35, began his UFC career last year after winning the Jungle Fight lightweight title and competing as a middleweight on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.” The Brazilian has gone 3-2 in his Octagon stint thus far but was submitted in his last outing, tapping to a Piotr Hallmann kimura at September’s UFC Fight Night 28.

Ronson, meanwhile, saw an eight-fight winning streak snapped in his Sept. 21 Octagon foray, when he dropped a split decision to Michel Richard Cunha dos Prazeres at UFC 165. The 27-year-old Canadian owns 10 of his 13 victories by either knockout or submission and has gone the distance just four times in as many years as a pro.
