UFC officials announced the change on Tuesday, revealing that
an injury to the Brazilian derailed the contest. Kawajiri’s
replacement opponent is to-be-determined.
UFC Fight Night 34 marks the Las Vegas-based organization’s
inaugural trip to Singapore and is headlined by a welterweight
showdown pitting ex-Strikeforce ruler Tarec
Saffiedine against surging Korean Hyun Gyu Lim.
The Jan. 3 event takes place at the Marina Bay Sands and will also
feature a lightweight showdown between M-1 Global veteran Mairbek
Taisumov and Sengoku alumnus Tae Hyun
Dias, 29, saw a nine-fight winning streak halted this past May by
Lentz, who scored a unanimous decision victory over the
Brazilian at UFC on FX 8. Prior to that setback, Dias had suffered
just one defeat in his first 23 outings, scoring nine of his 21
wins by submission and another three by knockout.
