UFC Fight Night 30 Weigh-In Results: Lyoto Machida, Mark Munoz Hit Marks in England

Lyoto Machida will not receive a warm welcome to the Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight division if Mark Munoz has any say in the matter.

Munoz tipped the scales at 186 pounds for his battle with Machida (185) in the UFC Fight Night 30 main event on Saturday at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, England. Lightweight co-headliners Ross Pearson (156) and Melvin Guillard (156) also met their contracted weight requirements without issue at Friday’s official weigh-in.

Machida last fought at UFC 163 in August, when he wound up on the wrong side of a controversial decision to Alliance MMA representative Phil Davis at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The defeat halted a modest two-fight winning streak for the onetime light heavyweight champion and led to his decision to leave the 205-pound division. Machida, who holds the rank of black belt in Shotokan karate and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, has dropped four of seven bouts since starting his career 16-0. Wins over six former UFC champions -- Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin, B.J. Penn, Rashad Evans and Mauricio Rua -- anchor his resume. Machida has compiled an 11-4 record since arriving in the UFC in February 2007.

Munoz has delivered five victories in his past six outings. The 35-year-old Reign MMA export last competed at UFC 162 in July, when he put his trademark “Donkey Kong” ground-and-pound to use in a one-sided unanimous decision over Tim Boetsch at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Munoz was a two-time NCAA All-American at Oklahoma State University, where in 2001 he became the first Filipino-American wrestler to win a national championship at the Div. I level. He holds an 8-3 mark in the UFC, losing only to Matt Hamill, Yushin Okami and current middleweight champion Chris Weidman.

UFC Fight Night 30 “Machida vs. Munoz” -- which airs live on Fox Sports 2 at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT -- will also feature a light heavyweight scrap pairing the unbeaten Jimi Manuwa (205) with Ryan Jimmo (204), a lightweight tilt pitting Jon Tuck (155) against “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” winner Norman Parke (155), a middleweight clash matching American Top Team’s Alessio Sakara (185) with Nicholas Musoke (186) and a flyweight encounter joining former Jungle Fight champion John Lineker (*128) with Phil Harris (125).

The remaining six preliminary bouts will stream to the UFC’s Facebook page at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT: Al Iaquinta (155) vs. Piotr Hallmann (155), Luke Barnatt (185) vs. Andrew Craig (186), Rosi Sexton (135) vs. Jessica Andrade (134), Andy Ogle (145) vs. Cole Miller (146), Jim Hettes (145) vs. Robert Whiteford (145) and Michael Kuiper (185) vs. Brad Scott (186).
