Edimilson Souza snatched a split decision victory in his Octagon debut, outpointing Felipe Arantes in their 15-minute featherweight showdown.

The reigning Jungle Fight 145-pound champion went to work early and often with straight punches to the head and body, using his long reach to frustrate his stockier foe. Though “Sertanejo” managed to score a takedown and land in full mount to end the first frame, he found himself on the receiving end of Souza’s punches in rounds two and three, as “Kevin” staggered him with a pair of hard right hands in the final period en route to earning his seventh consecutive victory.

Martins Puts Hernandez on Ice

Martins choked Hernandez out cold.
Lucas Martins pulled off a thrilling victory in his bantamweight debut, opening up early in the first frame and never looking back. “Mineiro” pressed the action from the get-go, backing Ramiro Hernandez up against the cage, where both men unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks.

It was Martins who scored most cleanly however, buckling the American’s knees with a straight right hand before grabbing a rear-naked choke and dragging his wobbly foe to the mat.

Though Hernandez gamely tried to fight out of the hold, Martins eventually found his squeeze and put Hernandez to sleep just 70 seconds into the bout.

Silverio Sweeps Scorecards Against Zeferino

Silverio earned a decision nod.
Elias Silverio kept his undefeated record intact on Wednesday night, as the Jungle Fight welterweight ruler notched a unanimous decision over fellow countryman Joao Zeferino. “Xuxu” proved to be one step ahead of Zeferino throughout the contest, thwarting the vast majority of his opponent’s takedown attempts while scoring effectively with solid combinations.

Additionally, Silverio managed to take the fight to the mat on his terms and controlled his opponent in the scrambles to score a measured victory in his Octagon debut.

‘Batman’ Survives Close Call

Jorge took a close decision home.
Jungle Fight lightweight champion Ivan Jorge was awarded a unanimous decision over American veteran Keith Wisniewski in their preliminary welterweight bout. Though “Batman” ate a slew of knees and short punches throughout the first two rounds while achieving little meaningful offense with his takedowns or in the clinch, he nevertheless came on strong in the third frame with some excellent knees on the inside.

Jorge’s effective body attack in the final five minutes apparently proved sufficient to sway the cage-side judges, who awarded him scores of 29-28 (twice) and 30-27.

Spencer edged Villefort on the cards.

Sean Spencer picked up split decision victory over Yuri Villefort in the first bout of the evening, using an effective boxing attack to score consistently throughout the 15 minute welterweight affair. Though Villefort did his best to keep “Black Magic” at bay with hard low kicks to the lead leg while threatening with takedowns, he could not prevent Spencer from closing the distance and lighting him up with punch combinations on the inside.
