UFC Fight Night 109 Weigh-ins: Alexander Gustafsson, Glover Teixeira Cleared

A pivotal light heavyweight matchup is on the menu for Sunday’s intriguing UFC Fight Night 109 “Gustafsson vs. Teixeira” card, as former world title challengers Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira will lock horns.

Gustafsson, who pushed former 205-pound king Jon Jones to his limits in an excellent brawl at UFC 165, is hoping for one final surge toward another shot at the title, currently held by Daniel Cormier. The hulking Swede is 2-2 in his last four, but he will be emboldened the raucous hometown crowd and at Saturday’s weigh-ins, “The Mauler” tipped the scale at 205 pounds.

Teixeira, meanwhile, who also lost via decision to “Bones” at UFC 172, dropped his next bout to Phil Davis but reeled off three straight stoppage wins. He’s coming off a conquest of Jared Cannonier at UFC 208; the Brazilian knows that the sands in his career’s hourglass are running low and a loss would be catastrophic. Teixeira came in officially at 206.

UFC Fight Night 109, which takes place at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden, will begin on UFC Fight Pass at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT. From there, the action switches over to FS1 for the rest of the day; the broadcast on the sports cable network begins at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
