UFC Boss: No Deal with Brock Lesnar, WWE Star Not Returning to Octagon

Brock Lesnar is staying retired, according to Dana White. | Sherdog.com

Alistair Overeem called out Brock Lesnar following a dominant victory over Frank Mir at UFC 169, but the act appears to have been for naught.

Speculation has surrounded Lesnar recently in regard to a possible UFC return, as promotion president Dana White previously indicated that the former heavyweight champion had expressed interest in competing once again.

However, White told Fox Sports following UFC 169 on Saturday night that the Las Vegas-based promotion has not signed the ex-champ to a deal and that Lesnar will not be stepping back into the cage anytime soon.

Lesnar competed for the UFC seven times over nearly four years but saw his MMA career interrupted by two bouts of diverticulitis. The former NCAA Division I national champion wrestler knocked out Randy Couture to capture the UFC heavyweight title in 2008 and defended the belt twice successfully before relinquishing the championship to Cain Velasquez in 2010.

Lesnar made his final Octagon appearance in December 2011, suffering a technical knockout loss to Overeem at UFC 141. After announcing his retirement from MMA, Lesnar returned to his career as a professional wrestler, re-signing with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2012.
