Weidman was felled by a flying knee from Romero 24 seconds into the third-round of their featured 185-pound scrap. Weidman began bleeding profusely from the blow and the bout was halted after Romero landed a few follow-up punches on the canvas.
Weidman, who must receive medical clearance from the NYSAC, did
attend Saturday’s post-fight press conference.
UFC 205 saw Conor McGregor capture the lightweight title with a second-round knockout of Eddie Alvarez in the evening’s main event. While McGregor emerged from the bout with a clean bill of health, Alvarez was suspended a minimum of 30 days pending NYSAC clearance.
