Masio Fullen vs. Alex Torres

Round 1

Torres tries to rush Fullen and runs into a right hook. Moving to the edge of the cage, Torres picks at Fullen with four or five leg kicks from range, but Fullen twice steps into the pocket to land right hands. A straight right from Torres buckles the legs of Fullen, who has to backpedal and evade as Torres blitzes him with punches, looking to finish. Torres traps Fullen against the fence, mixing up his punches with head and body shots, but a hard right hand from Fullen backs him away. Fullen seems to have recovered as he charges at Torres, who changes levels and floors him with a takedown. The featherweights bounce right back to their feet, where Torres scores with a body kick. Torres has a left high kick blocked, but the right hook behind it takes out Fullen’s legs again. Fullen wobbles backward and stays standing by grabbing the cage, then takes the incoming Torres to the ground with a double-leg. Inside the final minute, Fullen works from Torres’ open guard. He stands and looks for an opening to come back to the ground, but Torres slides back and jumps to his feet. Both men land hard hooks in the final seconds, then Torres snuffs out a takedown try from Fullen before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Torres
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Torres
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Torres

Round 2

Torres digs an underhook and shoves Fullen against the cage, where the 145ers spend the first 90 seconds of the round throwing ineffective strikes in the clinch. Torres exits the tie-up with a solid elbow, misses with a spinning-back kick, then ducks under a punch and clinches with Fullen again. They fight for head position and Fullen lands a knee to the body, but the “TUF: Latin America” veterans soon disengage. Fullen sprawls on a shot from Torres, stands him up and slugs with a right hand down the center. Now it’s Fullen instigating the clinch, but he doesn’t do much before relasing. Torres looks tired with one minute left in the second, sticking to the outside with his hands low, eating the occasional punch from Fullen and flailing with counterpunches.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Fullen
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Fullen
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Fullen

Round 3

The fighters hug at the start of the final round, and then Torres tries to get busy with punches. Fullen picks him off with a counter combination, scoring with tighter and quicker punches in the pocket. Fullen is pressing forward, kept out of range by Torres. Once he gets inside, Fullen clubs Torres with a right hook, a left kick to the body, an uppercut. Torres comes away from the exchange with a bloody nose, and Fullen adds some damage to the body with a leaping knee. A sweeping left hook on the cheek causes Torres to cover up momentarily. Torres gets his back off the fence and tries to charge Fullen with a right hand, but he’s countered with a clean right hook on the other side. Fullen denies a takedown attempt, so Torres stands up and pushes him against the cage. Fullen escapes and puts his back to the fence to deny another high double-leg attempt from Torres. They stay in the clinch with two minutes left while referee Herb Dean calls for work. Fullen throws a couple knees up the center while Torres keeps working for the takedown. Fullen ecapes the clinch, but Torres ducks the first punch he throws and brings the fight right back to the fence. With one minute left, the featherweights come back to the center. Torres gets in deep on a high double and brings Fullen to the ground. Fullen stands right back up, Torres still grabbing for his legs, and Fullen receives a warning from the ref for grabbing the fence just before time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Fullen (29-28 Fullen)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Fullen (29-28 Fullen)
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Fullen (29-28 Fullen)

The Result

Masio Fullen def. Alex Torres via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) R3 5:00

James Krause vs. Valmir Lazaro

Round 1

Lazaro presses forward with some hard low kicks in the opening minute, answered by Krause with some long jabs. It’s the Brazilian setting up in the center of the cage as the lightweights settle in, with Krause jabbing in circles around him. Krause changes levels and gets a quick takedown, but Lazaro bounces back to his feet and turns it into a clinch on the fence. When they break, Lazaro counters a Krause low kick with a right hook over the top. Krause connects with a body kick, then both fighters get a warning from referee John McCarthy to mind their heads when stepping into the pocket. Krause works for a takedown on the fence, gets stuffed and takes a knee to the chest on the split. A mouse is forming beneath Krause’s right eye, possibly from the earlier clash of heads. Lazaro worsens the damage with three or four clean left hooks in the final 30 seconds. Krause has a takedown attempt denied but hits Lazaro with a solid body kick before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Lazaro
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lazaro
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Lazaro

Round 2

Lazaro finds his target with a couple more left hooks before Krause grabs for his legs and takes him to the ground. Again, the 155ers bounce right back up, and after putting another left hook on Krause’s face, Lazaro sprawls on another double leg. Krause eats another hard left, a jab down the center, but he gets one back with a wide right hand. Krause goes to the body of Lazaro with a hook, then a straight right. Krause sticks a jab, answered by Lazaro with a double jab. A left hook backs up Lazaro, and Krause follows him with a straight left down the pipe. Lazao is getting backed up to the fence, so he circles off and returns to the center. Krause overcommits on an overhand right, falls to his knees and gets kneed in the gut as he stands. Lazaro gets a break from the referee for what appears to be a phantom groin strike, but the action soon resumes. Both men land right hands and low kicks in the pocket, then Lazaro takes the advantage in the exchange by rocking Krause’s head with a left hook-right straight. Lazaro denies another double-leg from Krause and sticks a couple more jabs in his face before the end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Lazaro
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lazaro
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Krause

Round 3

Lazaro is showing a good mix of body and head shots at the start of the final round, while Krause is working the Brazilian’s legs with kicks and keeping his jab in the shorter man’s face. Lazaro sends a pair of punches off Krause’s arms, lands a low kick behind it, then repeats the sequence with more success by going to Krause’s body before the leg kick. Krause shoots for a takedown, brings Lazaro to the ground but can’t hold him there. When Lazaro stands, he’s held in the clinch on the fence by Krause, who tries to use his range to shoot a knee to the face of his standing opponent. Lazaro breaks free and puts a hard kick in Krause’s breadbasket. Lazaro chops with a leg kick before both men stick jabs. Krause is pressing forward now, and he shakes his head at Lazaro after stuffing a trip attempt. Lazaro returns the favor by sprawling on a shot, then gives Krause a couple short left hooks without much behind them. Krause double-jabs, lands a leg kick and ducks under a wide left hand from Lazaro to end the fight.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Krause (29-28 Lazaro)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Krause (29-28 Lazaro)
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Krause (29-28 Krause)

The Result

Valmir Lazaro def. James Krause via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) R3 5:00

Derrick Lewis vs. Ruan Potts

Round 1

Potts steps backward and flicks out leg kicks while the heavy-footed Lewis creeps forward with his hands low. Lewis stuffs one half-hearted shot from Potts, then winds up clinched on the fence. Lewis winds up tripping Potts to the ground, but the big men are back on their feet almost immediately. A knee from Lewis catches Potts on the cup, and after a brief break for the South African to recover, Potts gives the “Beast” a few kicks to the body. Potts misses with one kick and tries to run away, bouncing off the cage and tripping to the ground. Lewis makes the mistake of standing over Potts, who grabs for a kneebar -- which appears to make Lewis tap once -- and then changes to a heel hook which Lewis escapes. Potts winds up on top in the ensuing scramble, but Lewis rolls him over from half guard and easily escapes another heel hook attempt. A big right hand from Lewis lands to the face of the grounded Potts, who drives forward and finishes the round working for a double-leg on the fence.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Lewis
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lewis
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Lewis

Round 2

Lewis just misses with a left high kick, then touches Potts with a left hook. Potts tries to clinch up and gets tossed to the ground, where Lewis uses a whizzer to take top position. Potts gets to his knees, and Lewis loops his right arm around the South African’s waist while bombing with left hands. Potts rolls to guard and Lewis stands up, then dives down into the prone man’s guard. Potts tries to isolate Lewis’ left arm, but he can’t and he winds up with Lewis flattening him from half guard. After eating a couple heavy right hands, Potts rolls over and covers up, leaving himself open for an arm-triangle choke. Lewis briefly considers the submission, then gives it up in order to take full mount and drop hammer fists on Potts’ face. Lewis has two minutes left in the round, slamming Potts with punches and elbows from full mount. Referee John McCarthy tells Potts to fight back, and when he does not, the fight is stopped.

The Result

Derrick Lewis def. Ruan Potts via TKO (Punches) R2 3:18

Dhiego Lima vs. Tim Means

Round 1

Means blocks a high kick and steps forward on Lima, who sticks a punch in the gut of the “Dirty Bird” and follows up with a leg kick. Another high kick goes off Means’ forearms, and this time he answers with a kick to Lima’s body. Means tags Lima with a left hook, a right cross, then steps in to clinch and sends him to the ground with a knee. Referee Herb Dean is having a close look as Means tries to polish him off with punches on the ground. Lima struggles back to his feet, where Means zaps him with a standing elbow and a straight left. Lima is up but still in trouble, stumbling around the outside and appearing to prop himself on the cage. He slugs Means with a looping right hand, but Means steps in and thumps the “TUF” alum with a straight left on the jaw. Lima is already dazed, leaning against the fence, and means turns out his lights with a fast flurry of four or five more punches. Lima slumps to the ground and referee Dean steps in to stop the contest.

The Result

Tim Means def. Dhiego Lima via TKO (Punches) R1 2:17

Roman Salazar vs. Norifumi Yamamoto

Round 1

Yamamoto comes out swinging but Salazar circles away, and the bantamweights wind up back in the center of the cage. Salazar fends off the Japanese fighter with a front kick, while Yamamoto tries to jab. Yamamoto counters a low kick with an overhand right that seems to sting Salazar, then “Kid” dodges a punch and clips Salazar with a right hand that wraps around the Arizonan’s head. Salazar misses with a front kick and eats another right hand before he can slide out of the pocket, but he keeps pressing forward to tie up. Yamamoto quickly breaks free and evades another front kick. Salazar counters a low kick with an overhand let, but he catches Yamamoto in the right eye with a finger on the next exchange. Referee John McCarthy calls time and Yamamoto soon recovers from the accidental foul. Back to action with one minute left in the opening round, Yamamoto pulls down on the head of Salazar and throws him aside after an attempted clinch. Yamamoto sticks a jab, goes to the body with a straight left hand and deflects a few high kicks before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Yamamoto
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Yamamoto
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Yamamoto

Round 2

Salazar plows Yamamoto to the ground with a double-leg in the opening 10 seconds, but Kid is back on his feet about 10 seconds later. Yamamoto goes to his back foot, circling away and trying to draw Salazar forward in order to counter. Salazar gets close enough to deliver a pair of knees to the body, and as Yamamoto shoves him away, a finger finds its way into Salazar’s left eye. They’re soon back to business, with Salazar coming in and grazing with a wild overhand left. He grabs for Yamamoto’s legs and gets popped with a left hook for his trouble. Halfway through the round, Salazar touches Yamamoto with a grazing left hook, but as he steps forward, Yamamoto’s outstretched hand sticks Salazar in the eye again, possibly both eyes. Yamamoto immediately apologizes and receives another warning from referee McCarthy while the cageside physician is called in to examine Salazar. The break is a little longer this time, as Salazar appears to be having serious trouble with his eyesight. When asked if he can continue, Salazar tells referee McCarthy that he cannot see out of his left eye, and the fight is stopped.

The Result

Roman Salazar vs. Norifumi Yamamoto ruled No Contest (Accidental Eye Poke) R2 2:37

Roan Carneiro vs. Mark Munoz

Round 1

Munoz shoots for a takedown and gets sprawled upon, then has to surrender bottom position in order to escape a Carneiro guillotine attempt. Munoz gets to his knees, and “Jucao” stands to turn the corner and attach himself to Munoz’s back. Carneiro applies a rear-naked choke which puts Munoz to sleep almost instantly, forcing referee Jerin Valel into action.

The Result

Roan Carneiro def. Mark Munoz via Technical Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1 1:40

Tony Ferguson vs. Gleison Tibau

Round 1

Tibau slips throwing a left high kick at the taller man but scrambles back to his feet before Ferguson can capitalize. Ferguson hits Tibau with an inside leg kick and yanks his leg back as the Brazilian tries to grab hold. He sticks Tibau with a couple jabs, then catches a kick and trips him to the ground. Ferguson tries to shuck the legs and come down in side control, but Tibau is too quick and he stands up. Tibau presses forward and gets lit up by a Ferguson combination, then stunned badly with a left hand behind the ear. Ferguson hustles Tibau to the other side of the cage, and when Tibau tries a sloppy shot, Ferguson catches him in a headlock. Ferguson spins around to take the back, securing both hooks and flattening out the veteran. As Tibau attempts to roll over, Ferguson slaps on a rear-naked choke and coaxes a tap in seconds.

The Result

Tony Ferguson def. Gleison Tibau via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1 2:37

Alan Jouban vs. Richard Walsh

Round 1

Walsh applies forward pressure from the start and hits Jouban with a hard left kick to the body. Jouban blocks a right high kick with his glove, though some of the shot seems to get through as he circles away. Walsh digs an underhook on the left side and muscles Jouban against the fence to apply a few knees to the body. Jouban breaks free and comes ahead with a hard kick to the body, but his progress is stopped by an overhand right from the Australian. Walsh backpedals away from a telegraphed spinning-back fist from the southpaw, then comes back to give Jouban another kick to the liver. Two minutes in, Jouban is coming forward, pushing Walsh backward with a straight left. The welterweights tangle up momentarily near the fence, and as he releases from the clinch, Jouban stuns Walsh with a level elbow to the right temple. Walsh falls against the cage stunned, and Jouban finishes the job with a right hand on the chin. Walsh collapses, then wakes up and bounces back to his feet, but it’s too late, referee John McCarthy has waved it off.

The Result

Alan Jouban def. Richard Walsh via KO (Elbow and Punch) R1 2:19

Josh Koscheck vs. Jake Ellenberger

Round 1

Koscheck opens with a series of jabs and takes one in return from Ellenberger before changing levels and flooring “The Juggernaut” with a takedown at the base of the fence. Ellenberger gets to his knees and stands, shaking off Koscheck, who was attempting to climb on his back. Now it’s Koscheck doubled over, working on a double-leg as Ellenberger sprawls against the fence. After Ellenberger pops him with a few elbows to the side of the head, Koscheck stomps his opponent’s feet and throws knees to the body. Ellenberger escapes midway through the round and walks down Koscheck around the perimeter of the cage, trying to counter jabs with power shots. A right hand clips for Ellenberger but he misses with a huge follow-up left hook as Koscheck dashes away. Ellenberger finds a home for a few left hands, lumping up Koscheck’s right eye in the final minute of the round. With Koscheck backpedaling away in the last 10 seconds, Ellenberger shrugs his shoulders in frustration.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Ellenberger
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Ellenberger
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ellenberger

Round 2

Koscheck shoots right for the double and gets stuffed by Ellenberger, who backs up against the cage and hooks the right arm of “Kos” to fend off the takedown. Koscheck switches to a single, gets an elbow to the side of the head and stomps Ellenberger’s feet again as referee Jerin Valel calls for action. Valel breaks them up about 90 seconds into the round, and now Ellenberger cracks Koscheck with a wide right hook. Koscheck begins pawing at his left eye shortly after the exchange. The eye continues to bother the former title contender three minutes into the frame as he evades Ellenberger and appears hesitant to engage. At the 90-second mark, Koscheck shoots for a takedown and winds up in the same position as the start of the round, holding Ellenberger on the cage. This time, Ellenberger catches Koscheck’s neck in a modified guillotine and rips him to the ground. Koscheck on his back, trying to fight off what has now become a north-south choke. Koscheck kicks and resists, trying to escape, but eventually he’s forced to tap out.

The Result

Jake Ellenberger def. Josh Koscheck via Submission (North-South Choke) R2 4:20

Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington

Round 1

Holm crouches low and circles to her left around the outside as Pennington fires off leg kicks from the center. Pennington ducks under a Superman punch from Holm and grabs hold of the boxer to run her against the fence. Holm breaks out of the clinch in a few seconds and steps back to the center of the cage, then meets Pennington coming forward and briefly holds her on the cage with an underhook. Pennington inches forward and gets zapped by a straight left down the center. She keeps coming but has trouble navigating the range as Holm flashes front and side kicks. Pennington ducks another left hand to try a takedown but again Holm gets free with ease. Pennington is still scoring with low kicks but it’s all Holm range striking department. Pennington catches a left high kick on her shoulder and goes for another takedown, can’t get it and has to walk after Holm again. Holm is showing some damage on her right knee from Pennington’s leg kicks. Holm dings Pennington with another straight left, misses with a left high kick and pushes away with a side kick at the end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Holm
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Holm
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Holm

Round 2

Pennington ducks under a left high kick and then backs up to avoid a jab sequence. The next jab from Holm touches the chin of Pennington, who goes underneath another kick aimed at her head. Holm is staying busy with combinations but not landing any clean power shots as Pennington covers up. Pennington tries to clinch and only grazes with an uppercut to the body before releasing. Holm stuffs a takedown attempt but absorbs four or five uppercuts to the solar plexus before Pennington backs out of range. Pennington pushes forward with a combo and gets countered by a Holm counter right. Pennington slides to avoid a three-punch combo from Holm and then pops the former boxer with a counter left. Holm is still hunting for the left high kick but Pennington evades it each time. Another leg kick scores for Pennington, and Holm answers with a left hand to the gut. A short left hook connects for Holm as the bantamweights tie up again with 20 seconds left. Nothing comes of the clinch, but Pennington has Holm on her back foot as the round ends, connecting with a reaching right hook.

TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Holm
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Holm

Round 3

Pennington hits Holm with a low kick on the damaged leg early, as she did a few times in the latter half of round two. Holm steps in with a lead uppercut and dodges the counter fire from Pennington, then hits “Rocky” with a nice right hook upstairs a few seconds later. Holm keeps the shorter woman away with front kicks, takes a kick to the lead leg and responds with a leg kick of her own. Pennington lands one of her best shots of the night with a counter right after ducking another punch. Holm puts a pair of straight punches on Pennington’s face and dips out of the pocket. Pennington tries a left high kick and sends it off Holm’s forearm. A straight right hand from Pennington knocks Holm to the ground, but the Coloradoan gets over-aggressive and slips to the ground while trying to pounce, allowing Holm to get up. Holm hits Pennington with a knee in the clinch, releases and stuffs a takedown. As they break from the clinch, Pennington connects with a nice overhand right. Holm slaps with a high kick and takes another left hand on the chin for her effort. Down to the final minute, Pennington scores with a pair of right hands that has Holm backing away. Holm is bleeding from her nose as another high kick is deflected. Pennington is the one pressing forward as the horn signals the end to a very close final round.

Rousey flips over the top as they hit the deck and comes up in scarf hold position, then attaches herself to Zingano’s back as the challenger rolls over.
