Brazilian countrymen Ildemar Alcantara and Richardson Moreira will square off in a middleweight matchup at UFC 183.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced the bout on Monday. UFC 183 “Silva vs. Diaz” takes place Jan. 31 in Las Vegas, headlined by a showdown between former middleweight king Anderson Silva and ex-Strikeforce champ Nick Diaz.
Alcantara, 31, will return to the 185-pound division for his upcoming bout after going 2-2 in the UFC welterweight division. The younger brother of UFC bantamweight Iuri Alcantara last saw action in July, when he was handed a unanimous decision loss by Kenny Robertson at UFC 175.
Better known as “Rick Monstro,” 30-year-old Moreira competed on the third season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” but was eliminated in the semifinals by Vitor Miranda. His official UFC debut in May lasted only 20 seconds, as the Sao Paulo native was knocked out by castmate Marcos Rogerio de Lima.
