Jingliang Li vs. David Michaud

Round 1

Mark Smith is the referee for tonight’s welterweight opener. Michaud rushes to meet Li and tags the Chinese fighter with a two-piece combo near the fence. A jab and another right hand follow from Michaud before Li backs him off with a low kick. Li sticks a hard low kick outside but eats a cross counter. Li is getting his hands working now, sending a pair of hard right hands down the center to counter Michaud’s next combination. The leg kicks continue to land for Li, and now both 170-pounders land hard punches as they trade in the pocket. Li grabs hold of Michaud and pulls him to the fence, hunting for a takedown while referee Smith warns Michaud for grabbing the cage. Michaud breaks loose and walks forward on Li, who changes levels but again can’t find the takedown. Michaud tags him with an uppercut that sends Li shooting for another takedown attempt. Michaud keeps his balance as he’s elevated by Li, and a few seconds later, scores a takedown of his own. Michaud hits Li with hard punches as they scramble up, and now it’s Li with a takedown. Michaud tries for an armbar from the bottom as time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Li
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Li
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Li

Round 2

Li tries to keep the incoming Michaud at bay with leg kicks, but Michaud keeps coming and shoots low. Good takedown defense from Li, and he punishes Michaud’s body with right hands until he gives up on the shot. Michaud tries to clinch on the cage, but Li won’t be held there. Once released, it’s Li with a low kick and stiff jab, slipping out of range before Michaud can counter. Li continues to pump his jab in Michaud’s face, even rocking the American’s head with a particularly stiff right. Michaud gets in the pocket, clinches up and scores with a couple knees to the body. He comes back to try another tie-up on the fence with 90 seconds to go, and this one yields a takedown for Michaud. After it seems Li might reverse to top position, Michaud whips around to take the Chinese fighter’s back for the last half minute of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Michaud
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Michaud
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Michaud

Round 3

Michaud comes to close the distance but is kept away for the first minute of the round by Li’s hard, accurate jabs. When Michaud gets inside, he’s greeted by a standing elbow strike and then presses Li against the fence. The clinch doesn’t lead to anything, but Michaud is able to come back a few seconds after they split and put Li on his back with a double-leg. Michaud postures up in Li’s guard and busts open “The Leech” with damaging elbows to the face. Li leans left, working for a kimura sweep until Michaud postures up too high and gets overpowered. It’s Li in Michaud’s half guard now, nearly stepping into mount as he works from the top with 2:00 remaining. Li is keeping Michaud flat, scooting him toward the fence and sitting up to drop ground-and-pound as referee Smith calls for action. Michaud sits up and grabs Li’s neck, then drops back to guard to try and finish with a guillotine. Li slips out with 20 seconds to go and finishes the fight with more punches as he passes to side control.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Li (29-28 Li)
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Li (29-28 Li)

Aaron Phillips vs. Sam Sicilia

Round 1

Jason Herzog is the referee for this featherweight bout. The southpaw Phillips keeps a wide stance and hits Sicilia with a slapping kick to the body as the fighters feel out the range in the opening minute. Phillips fires a hard kick to Sicilia’s lead leg but misses as he launches off the fence with a Superman punch. Sicilia cracks Phillips with an uppercut inside, and “The Model” fires back at Sicilia with a pair of left hands to the gut. Two minutes in, Sicilia clinches up and trips Phillips to the canvas, then stands and bashes Phillips with huge punches that appear to stun the youngster. Phillips regains his wits and drives forward, standing and walking forward with a smile on his face as he launches kicks in Sicilia’s direction. Sicilia comes inside to punch and gets dinged with a knee to the body. The former “TUF” contestant falls to the ground, and Phillips tries to finish by pulling guard for a guillotine. Sicilia frees his head and stands over his prone opponent, eating a couple upkicks before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Phillips
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Sicilia
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Phillips

Round 2

Sicilia comes straight at the now-orthodox Phillips and lands a right, then a takedown near the fence. Phillips stays busy underneath, threatening with an armbar and getting a sweep from the submission attempt. Sicilia winds up on his knees, but he overpowers Phillips when “The Model” tries to transition from a crucifix to a rear-naked choke. Sicilia jumps on his back but rides too high, and Phillips escapes out the back door. With just over two minutes left in the round, Phillips steps into full mount, but Sicilia takes out his base and sweeps to top position almost instantly. With Phillips still fishing for submissions underneath, Sicilia passes to side control and then full mount. Again, Sicilia establishes only one hook, allowing Phillips to escape when Sicilia tries a neck crank. Sicilia remains on top, dropping sporadic ground-and-pound to the round’s end.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Sicilia
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Sicilia
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Sicilia

Round 3

Sicilia comes out headhunting in the final frame, looking to take out Phillips with a couple huge lead uppercuts which the Louisianan dodges. Sicilia is able to catch a kick and get another takedown, and once there, he begins unloading on Phillips with rough ground-and-pound. Phillips tries to get active from the bottom, peppering with short punches and moving Sicilia from side control back to half guard. Sicilia stays heavy on top and defends well as Phillips throws up his legs to threaten with armbars and triangles. With one minute remaining, Phillips powers back to his feet and is immediately taken back to the ground. Sicilia keeps the UFC newcomer trapped against the fence until the 30-second mark, when Phillips scrambles up and tries a guillotine. Phillips can’t finish, and Sicilia frees his head to finish the fight on top.

Sherdog Scores

Anthony Njokuani vs. Vinc Pichel

Round 1

Mark Smith is the referee for this lightweight bout. Njokuani sets up on the outside, with Pichel in the center, following along as the “Assassin” cuts angles. As Njokuani steps in to throw a left-right-high kick combination, he catches a finger in his left eye from Pichel’s outstretched hand. Njokuani recovers after a consult with the cageside physician, and when the fight resumes, he’s taken down by Pichel. The fighters work toward the fence, and Njokuani keeps his back to the cage as he stands. Pichel keeps hold as they come up, and his clinch work isn’t enough for referee Smith, who restarts the fighters in the center. Pichel comes straight back in to clinch, pushes Njokuani against the fence and hits him with a knee to the cup. Njokuani takes a minute to recover and gets back to business. At first, Njokuani is able to fend off Pichel with kicks, but “From Hell” gets inside and clinches on the fence again. At least one of Pichel’s knees in the clinch appears to stray low, but referee Smith doesn’t catch it. The lightweights split up and finish the fight trading punches.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Pichel
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Pichel
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Pichel

Round 2

Njokuani is on his back foot in the first minute of round two, sniping with counter punches and slipping out of the way of Pichel’s offense. Njokuani is ducking Pichel’s punches now, and coming back up to return fire with hard right hands. After 90 seconds of this, Pichel closes the gap, wraps up Njokuani and slams him to the ground. Njokuani is eating some heavy shots on the ground, and Pichel adds to the suffering with another suplex. Njokuani gets back up midway through the round, tries to sprawl on a double-leg from Pichel, but has his legs taken out anyway. When Njokuani clambers back to his feet with 90 seconds left, Pichel gives chase and drops him back to the mat almost immediately. Pichel takes the back but Njokuani escapes and stands again. Pichel finishes the round with one more takedown.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Pichel
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Pichel
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Pichel

Round 3

Njokuani is able to stay on his feet when Pichel comes for a takedown in round three, but the punches of “The Assassin” are mostly pulling up short. Pichel gets off a couple leg kicks, eats a jab and then a straight left down the center. He gets in deep on a single-leg and sends Njokuani back to the ground. Again, Njokuani is able to stand, but once there, he’s unable to escape Pichel’s clutches. Another takedown goes for Pichel, and Njokuani lets out a frustrated shout from underneath as he tries in vain to escape. Pichel is framing up an arm-triangle choke but lets it go in favor of taking side position, then full mount. Njokuani turns over with 30 seconds left, and Pichel sits against the cage with both hooks in. Njokuani stands up and Pichel tries to give him one last slam, but Njokuani stays standing to the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Pichel (30-27 Pichel)

Mitch Clarke vs. Al Iaquinta

Round 1

Jason Herzog is the referee for this lightweight bout. Clarke starts the bout coming forward, firing off low kicks but having trouble finding his backpedaling opponent. Iaquinta catches a kick and slugs Clarke to the ground with a hard right hook. “Raging Al” follows Clarke to the canvas, controlling his legs and moving to half guard, then stalling out as Clarke blocks the pass. Iaquinta goes back to full guard midway through the round and sits up to drop big punches that Clarke clearly does not enjoy. Clarke grabs a headlock from underneath to slow Iaquinta’s pace, then releases to wrap him up in guard. Wrist control from Clarke holds off Iaquinta’s offense for a moment, but Iaquinta yanks his hands free and uses them to smash on Clarke’s face. Clarke scrambles up and gets caught in a standing guillotine against the cage, then dumped back to the ground for the end of the frame.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Iaquinta
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Iaquinta
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Iaquinta

Round 2

Clarke comes forward and has a stiff jab stuck in his face, but he manages to grab hold of Iaquinta’s leg during a kick. Iaquinta gets tripped to the ground but catches Clarke coming in and whips “Danger Zone” to the canvas. Clarke wall-walks off the fence and traps the kneeling Iaquinta with a brabo choke from underneath. Iaquinta goes to sleep almost immediately, and referee Herzog steps in to halt the fight.

The Official Result

Mitch Clarke def. Al Iaquinta via Technical Submission (Brabo Choke) R2 0:57

Chico Camus vs. Chris Holdsworth

Round 1

Mark Smith is the referee for this bantamweight bout. Camus lands the first strike of the fight with a hard right hand to the taller man’s cheek. Holdsworth probes with punches, comes up short and eats another big right. Camus misses when he over-commits to the next right, and Holdsworth catches him coming back with a nice left hook counter. Camus initiates a clinch on the fence and is taken down by Holdsworth, who quickly passes to full mount with about 1:40 remaining in the round. Camus gets his knees inside and uses butterfly hooks to push Holdsworth back to guard. Holdsworth passes to half guard on Camus’ left side and briefly frames up an arm-triangle choke. Unable to pass to mount, Holdsworth releases the head-and-arm and finishes the round dropping punches on Camus.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Holdsworth
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Holdsworth
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Holdsworth

Round 2

Holdsworth catches Camus coming in with a knee, but Camus comes back firing with a good right hand over the top. Holdsworth swipes Camus’ face with a left hook, and Camus gives him another right. Camus changes levels and steps in to a knee to the gut, and then finds himself defending a takedown from Holdsworth on the fence. Holdsworth gets the takedown with about 3:30 left in the round and takes full mount again. This time, Holdsworth’s arm-triangle setup looks good, but Camus puts hand to head to defend. It’s full mount again for Holdsworth, now at the halfway point of the round and the fight. Camus tries to buck and escape, defends against another arm-triangle, but still finishes the round with Holdsworth glued to his back.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Holdsworth
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Holdsworth
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Holdsworth

Round 3

Camus is swinging for the fences, slugging with both hands and catching Holdsworth with some bombing right hands. Holdsworth takes a minute to get in takedown range, but once he does, “Holds It Down” puts Camus on the ground with ease. Two minutes in, Holdsworth passes to side control on Camus’ right side and grinds on his face with forearms and elbow strikes. Camus is breathing heavy as he sits up against the fence and has his legs yanked out from under him again. When Camus leans right to escape, he winds up on his knees with Holdsworth on his back. Holdsworth establishes the position with two hooks, switches to a body triangle and starts looking for a rear-naked choke. Camus puts his back to the ground, so Holdsworth tries another arm-triangle choke but again can’t finish. Holdsworth closes out the fight on top, peppering Camus with ground-and-pound.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Holdsworth (30-26 Holdsworth)

Tony Ferguson vs. Katsunori Kikuno

Round 1

Yves Lavigne is the referee for this lightweight bout. Kikuno blocks a leaping high kick from Ferguson and snipes back with a pair of hard right hands. The Japanese fighter puts a front kick on Ferguson’s body and sends a left hook upstairs. Ferguson gets one back with a body kick and zaps Kikuno with a right hand, then another. Kikuno is backed up to the fence, eating more punches from Ferguson and then circling out as the former “TUF” fighter gives chase. Kikuno is bleeding from the nose now, and the bleeding is worsened as Ferguson pumps another jab. Ferguson gets flashy midway through the round, rolling for a leglock that doesn’t come. A pair of jabs and a cracking right hook send Kikuno sprinting away, but Ferguson gives chase and slams the karateka to the ground. Ferguson transitions from an armbar attempt to a brabo choke, cranking the choke from underneath as Kikuno kneels and tries to relieve the pressure. Ferguson releases the choke and allows Kikuno to stand -- more like stagger -- backward, clearly still feeling the squeeze from that choke. Ferguson walks him down and catches Kikuno near the fence with a blistering right hand on the jaw. Kikuno falls to the ground in a daze and has to be rescued by referee Lavigne.

The Official Result

Tony Ferguson def. Katsunori Kikuno via KO (Punch) R1 4:06

Michael Chiesa vs. Francisco Trinaldo

Round 1

Herb Dean is the referee for this lightweight bout. The southpaws meet in the center and spend the first minute circling, feinting and twitching. Trinaldo pumps his right hand, trying to feel the range as he dodges a high kick from the American. Ninety seconds in, Chiesa lands the first offense of the fight with a lunging kick to the body. Chiesa shoots a single-leg and brings Trinaldo down to one knee, but the Brazilian pops right back up and lands a hard knee to the gut. “Massaranduba” follows up with a big left hand to the breadbasket, and then sprawls on a long shot from Chiesa. “Maverick” stays after the takedown and puts Trinaldo on the ground halfway through the opening frame. Chiesa pins Trinaldo’s left arm and drops right hands until the Brazilian rolls over. Chiesa takes full mount and begins punishing Trinaldo’s face with punches and elbows. Trinaldo is rolling left and right, looking for an escape, but Chiesa is heavy on top and relentless with his ground-and-pound. Many of Chiesa’s shots are being deflected by Trinaldo’s arms, but a few particularly hard elbows get through in the last 30 seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Chiesa
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Chiesa
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Chiesa

Round 2

Trinaldo opens the round with a hard left hook, steps back and waits to counter Chiesa’s next offense with a knee to the body. The Brazilian jumps guard with an arm-in guillotine and appears close to finishing, but Chiesa peels away the hand and finds himself in top position with three minutes left in the round. Chiesa sits up to pound and soon has to roll to defend against a leglock. Good defense gets Chiesa out of trouble, and he winds up on top, trapping Trinaldo’s right arm. After absorbing some elbows, Trinaldo tries to slip out the back door, but Chiesa stays with him and finishes the round on top.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Chiesa
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Chiesa
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Chiesa

Round 3

Trinaldo stuffs a shot from Chiesa but hits the American with a knee to the cup as they clinch up. Chiesa is quick to recover, but there’s not much action once the fight resumes. Two minutes in, Chiesa changes levels and plows Trinaldo to the ground, where the Brazilian wraps up his opponent in closed guard. Chiesa gets a little space to drop short punches, then gets Trinaldo to open up his guard and finds room for elbows. Trinaldo has been creeping his legs up Chiesa’s body for a minute and now finally goes for the armbar. Chiesa defends calmly, stacks Trinaldo and extracts his arm to finish the round on top, dropping elbows on Trinaldo.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Chiesa (30-26 Chiesa)
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Chiesa (30-27 Chiesa)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Chiesa (30-27 Chiesa)

James Krause vs. Jamie Varner

Round 1

Jason Herzog is the referee for this lightweight bout. Krause sticks a jab and slides back to dodge punches as Varner explodes forward. A right hand lands for Krause, then a front kick up the center rocks Varner’s head. Varner doesn’t appear too badly hurt from the shots but falls to the ground nonetheless; it looks like he may have rolled his left ankle. Krause controls the action on the ground for a moment but Varner is able to power back to his feet. Varner is propping himself up near the fence, not putting much weight on his left leg. He takes Krause down, but the taller man sweeps on top and starts marking up Varner with elbows midway through the round. Krause pulls guard with a guillotine but loses the choke as he rolls, and Varner looks to capitalize with fast and heavy ground-and-pound. Krause scrambles up and is kept against the fence as Varner tacks on a couple more punches. Varner is barely able to stand but he’s trying not to show it as referee Herzog looks on. Krause brings the veteran down to his knees and bloodies Varner’s mouth with punches. Varner gets back to his feet and winds up for a huge right hand that misses. Krause kicks at his opponent’s injured leg; Varner tries to shoot for a takedown and falls to the ground, unable to operate with injured leg. When the round ends, Varner remains seated on the canvas, where referee Herzog stops the fight.

The Official Result

James Krause def. Jamie Varner via TKO (Ankle Injury) R1 5:00

Takeya Mizugaki vs. Francisco Rivera

Round 1

Yves Lavigne is the referee for this bantamweight bout. Rivera gets in the first good shot of the bout, a left hook in the pocket toward the center of the cage. Mizugaki comes back charging and runs into a right hook. Mizugaki keeps looking to come over the top with a right hand and eventually finds his mark. Rivera tilts to the side and another shot sends him to the ground. Mizugaki pounces and tries to pound out the American as referee Lavigne has a close look. Rivera regains his wits quickly and grabs hold of Mizugaki’s hands to control the ground-and-pound. With two minutes left, Rivera scrambles up, gets the whizzer and trips Mizugaki to the mat after a brief clinch on the fence. Mizugaki gets up and pins Rivera to the cage, exiting with a left hand. Rivera comes forward and hits Mizugaki with a hard leg kick, tries an outside trip and winds up pressing Mizugaki on the fence. Rivera hits a takedown in the last 15 seconds and puts a couple short elbows on Mizugaki before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Mizugaki
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Mizugaki
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Mizugaki

Round 2

Rivera clips Mizugaki with a question mark kick about 30 seconds into the round, and Mizugaki spends a few seconds grabbing at Rivera’s legs from the ground. When he gets up, Mizugaki is leaking blood from a cut about his left eye. Rivera is getting some good shots through in the ensuing exchanges, and he pulls guard with a guillotine when Mizugaki changes levels. Rivera doesn’t have the choke, so he holds Mizugaki in place from underneath. Halfway through the round, Mizugaki postures up and zaps the seated Rivera with a hard right hand. The pace slows for a minute, and then Mizugaki turns the corner to take Rivera’s back with 90 seconds on the clock. Rivera buries his chin as Mizugaki hunts for the RNC with one hook in place. With 20 seconds to go, Mizugaki decides to squeeze on a neck crank, but Rivera survives to see round three.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Rivera
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Mizugaki
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Mizugaki

Round 3

Both men land hard right hands in an exchange near the fence, though Rivera’s punch appears to connect a little harder. Mizugaki backs out, now bleeding near his right eye, and he clips Rivera with a straight left. Mizugaki counters an outside low kick with a great counter right hand that puts Rivera on the mat. Mizugaki follows him down and gets to work from Rivera’s guard with 3:30 left in the fight. Mizugaki is doing just enough to stay on top, dropping punches where he can while Rivera tries to control his arms and negate the space. Referee Lavigne calls for action with two minutes remaining; after another minute of inactivity, he orders the 135ers to stand. Both guys are throwing hands in the final 30 seconds, but neither is landing anything clean. At the 10-second mark, Rivera puts his head down and starts winging wild shots, and Mizugaki follows suit.

Robbie Lawler vs. Jake Ellenberger

Round 1

Herb Dean is the referee for this welterweight bout. Lawler goes upstairs with a left high kick that shakes Ellenberger through his glove. Another high kick knocks Ellenberger backward to the fence, and now the “Juggernaut” circles out of range. Lawler throws the kick again, has it blocked and then fakes one to check the reaction. Over the top comes Lawler with a clean left hand, and he steps out of the way as Ellenberger returns fire. Lawler shows good defense as he dodges a three-piece combo and pops Ellenberger with a counter right. Ellenberger eats a left hand, answers with a punch to Lawler’s breadbasket.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Lawler
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Lawler
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lawler

Round 2

Ellenberger puts a grazing right hand behind Lawler’s ear, but the “Ruthless” one is undeterred as he presses forward and mugs Ellenberger against the cage. When Ellenberger grabs at Lawler’s legs, Lawler stands him up and punishes with a knee to the gut. Lawler sticks a jab, slips a right hand and then has to defend as Ellenberger grabs hold of a rear waist lock. After breaking out, Lawler creeps forward and catches Ellenberger with a pair of hard, straight lefts. Ellenberger is doing his best to circle and evade the punishment now, but Lawler is just walking him down and scoring whenever he gets into range. Ellenberger gets the rear waist lock again and this time dumps Lawler to the ground. He tries to trap Lawler’s left arm, but the Strikeforce vet just smiles and powers out of the dangerous position. Ellenberger is stuck on his knees now, being held in place while Lawler roughs him up with short lefts. With one minute left, Ellenberger explodes to his feet and drives Lawler to the ground again. Lawler is able to create space and stand with 30 seconds to go, and he finishes the round pressing Ellenberger on the cage.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Lawler
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Lawler
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Lawler

Round 3

When Ellenberger tries a level change, Lawler stands him up and delivers a knee to the gut. Lawler snaps back Ellenberger’s head with a hard jab. It looks like Ellenberger may have injured his right hand while landing those hard shots. Ellenberger switches it up and hits Lawler with a leg kick; Lawler answers with a snappy jab that leaves Ellenberger wiping at his left eye. Lawler corners Ellenberger near the fence and drills him with a knee, then a huge left hand. Ellenberger hits the deck and Lawler pours on the punches, forcing referee Dean to intervene.

The Official Result

Robbie Lawler def. Jake Ellenberger via TKO (Knee and Punches) R3 3:06

Daniel Cormier vs. Dan Henderson

Round 1

Yves Lavigne is the referee for tonight’s light heavyweight co-main event. Both men land low kicks as they feel out the range in the opening minute. Forty seconds in, Cormier catches Henderson ducking inside, grabs hold and dumps him to the ground in the center of the cage. With Cormier leaning right to left in cross side control, Henderson traps his right arm and tries for a straight armbar. Cormier yanks the limb free and catches Henderson in a mounted crucifix, then delivers a couple elbows to Hendo’s midsection. Cormier nearly takes full mount but Henderson keeps him in half guard at the last second. Referee Lavigne warns Cormier to keep his hands closed as he grinds and mashes Henderson on the ground. “DC” stands to sock Henderson with a right hand to the body, gets clipped with an upkick and comes back to the ground. Henderson gets stuck on his knees, takes a couple shots to the head and then goes to his back again with 60 seconds left in the opening round. Henderson drops back for a heel hook, so Cormier scrambles back to his feet. Henderson tries a late takedown, can’t get it and finishes the round clinching with Cormier on the fence.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Cormier
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Cormier
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Cormier

Round 2

Henderson rolls to his knees, where Cormier is able to connect with five or six hard right hands before forcing the former Pride champ to his back again. Cormier straddles Henderson’s head for a moment, framing up a kimura, then gives up on the arm and starts thumping Henderson’s body with punches. It’s all Cormier on the ground, with Henderson unable to escape his fellow Olympian’s heavy pressure on top. Cormier looks for a crucifix, can’t secure it and instead settles for pounding on Henderson with punches from side control. Henderson is barely defending himself now, turning on his side as Cormier unloads and referee Lavigne looks on. The punishment lessens in the final seconds of the round as Henderson gets to his knees and Cormier takes a breather.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Cormier
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Cormier
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Cormier

Cormier jumps off to the side and pops the kneeling Henderson with left hands. Henderson scoots over to the fence, but Cormier drags him away and resumes the punishment. When Henderson tries to stand, Cormier jumps on his back and pulls him back to the ground with a rear-naked choke already locked up. Henderson goes belly down and falls unconscious; referee Lavigne recognizes that Hendo is out and stops the fight.

Both men block head kicks in the opening minute, and Dillashaw lands a couple to Barao’s lead leg as the round progresses. Barao eats a hard lead uppercut from the challenger but appears unfazed. Now it’s a straight left that rocks Barao’s head, and he responds with a spinning kick to the gut and a left hook up top. Dillashaw is looking fast and fresh, moving in and out of the pocket to pick at the champ with low kicks and snappy punches. A huge overhand right lands on Barao’s ear and sends the champion crashing to the ground in the center of the cage. Referee Dean is taking a close look as Dillashaw tries to pound his way to the title. Barao slows the assault with a heel hook attempt, but Dillashaw jumps on his back with 30 seconds left and tries a no-hooks rear-naked choke. Barao escapes the choke and stands, catching a kick and tripping Dillashaw to the ground just before the horn.

Dillashaw brings the fight to the fence, roughing up Barao with short punches in the clinch. Barao gets tripped up while throwing a spinning back kick, and Dillashaw tries a guillotine as he comes down to the Brazilian’s guard.
