UFC 152 Update: Seth Baczynski, Simeon Thoresen Set for Sept. 22 Welterweight Tilt

Surging welterweight Seth Baczynski will take on Norwegian prospect Simeon Thoresen at UFC 152, promotion officials announced Tuesday.

UFC 152 is scheduled to emanate from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Sept. 22. The show features a flyweight title main event pitting Demetrious Johnson against Joseph Benavidez, as well as a middleweight clash between Michael Bisping and Brian Stann in the pay-per-view co-headliner.

Baczynski rides a five-fight winning streak into the contest, having most recently edged Lance Benoist in a split decision last month at UFC on FX 3. “The Polish Pistola” competed as a middleweight during the 11th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” in 2010, but lost to Brad Tavares via decision in the live finale. Since returning to the Octagon at 170 pounds, Baczynski has been perfect, submitting Clay Harvison and Matt Brown before outpointing Benoist.

Two years younger than his future foe, 28-year-old Thoresen has lost just once in his last 10 outings. “The Grin” made his UFC debut in April during the promotion’s inaugural trip to Sweden, where he stopped Besam Yousef in the second round of their UFC on Fuel TV 2 clash. Thoresen has been finished just once as a pro and owns 15 of his 17 career wins by submission.
