Emerging as a potential threat to UFC welterweight king Georges St. Pierre, the explosive Daley dropped Hazelett with a ringing left hook and knocked him unconscious with follow-up shots on the ground, as he bounced the Louisa, Ky., native’s head off the canvas. The 26-year-old has not allowed either of his first two UFC opponents to escape the first round.
Daley was not the only post-fight beneficiary at the event, which drew 13,255 fans for a $2 million gate, according to UFC officials.
Sam Stout and Joe Lauzon were awarded matching $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonuses after they engaged in a spirited three-round fight. Stout survived a first-round cut and a pair of submission attempts from Lauzon, who faded late, as he posted his second victory in as many appearances.
Finally, American Top Team’s Cole Miller pocketed a $50,000 “Submission of the Night” bonus in wake of his win over Dan Lauzon. Miller weathered an early knockdown and locked in an inverted triangle and kimura for the tapout 3:05 into the first round.
