Tuff-N-Uff President Barry Meyer Dead at 42

Barry Meyer, president of the Las Vegas-based promotion Tuff-N-Uff, passed away Tuesday at the age of 42.

Meyer’s brother, Tuff-N-Uff Vice President Jeff Meyer, confirmed the news via Facebook and relayed to MMAJunkie.com that Meyer took his own life Tuesday after struggling with depression for several years.

Originally from Chicago, Meyer founded Tuff-N-Uff with his brother Jeff in 1994. The organization went on to become an amateur mixed martial arts fixture in Las Vegas and co-promoted events with Chuck Norris’ World Combat League.

The promotion is also notable for its focus on promoting women’s mixed martial arts and has featured several well-known fighters during their formative years, including UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey.

A black belt in taekwondo, Meyer was inducted into the 2010 class of the Masters Hall of Fame, a non-profit organization established in 1999 to promote the growth of martial arts.
