A hard-hitting heavyweight matchup has been added to UFC Fight Night “Dillashaw vs. Cruz,” as top-10 ranker Travis Browne will square off against Matt Mitrione in January.
Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the bout Wednesday evening along with a middleweight tilt pitting Tim Boetsch against Ed Herman. The fights join a developing lineup for the Fox Sports 1-broadcast card which goes down Jan. 18 at TD Garden in Boston.
Browne, 33, has dropped two of last three outings to fellow world-ranked heavyweights, suffering a five-round decision loss to Fabricio Werdum and, most recently, a knockout at the hands of former training partner Andrei Arlovski. Mitrione will also be looking to rebound, as the 37-year-old “Meathead” comes off a submission defeat to Ben Rothwell which snapped a three-fight knockout streak.
A native of Maine, 34-year-old Boetsch will have the New England crowd on his side as he tries to bounce back from a 28-second knockout at the hands of Dan Henderson. Herman, also 34, has alternated wins and losses in his last five starts; in January, “Short Fuse” was punched out in 36 seconds by Derek Brunson.
