Former Strikeforce middleweight king Ronaldo Souza earned his fifth consecutive win last week, taking a first-round technical knockout over Yushin Okami at UFC Fight Night 28 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. In an interview with Sherdog.com, trainer Josuel Distak praised “Jacare’s” performance.

"Jacare continues to evolve, and he proved it against Okami, one of the toughest fighters in the division," Distak said. "People who have not seen Jacare in Strikeforce had no idea how [good] he was. Fighting in the UFC allows him to show his work to everyone, that he is for real."

The rise of Jacare in UFC middleweight division could put him on a collision course with his X-Gym partner, Anderson Silva. Distak, however, assured that this fight will not happen and explained how the situation will be avoided.

"We're in the hands of the UFC, we're employees. Jacare is always going to step up. He will fight in two weight classes," Distak said, "Everything will depend on Anderson Silva’s fight against Chris Weidman [at UFC 168]. If Anderson wins, we'll go after Jon Jones’ belt. Let us prove to the world that we have character; we don't fight against each other. This is the story of the X-Gym. Jacare is also ready to fight in the division above."
