Top-10 Featherweights Max Holloway, Charles Oliveira Headline UFC’s Saskatoon Debut

Two world-ranked 145-pounders will fight to keep their winning streaks alive when Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira clash in August.

Ultimate Fighting Championship officials Monday announced that the featherweight matchup will headline the promotion’s inaugural trip to the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. According to a release issued by the organization, the bout “could determine the division’s next title contender.”

UFC Fight Night “Holloway vs. Oliveira” is set to take place Aug. 23 at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon. The UFC will hold a press conference to formally announce the event at the venue on June 24, with tickets going on sale to the general public on June 26.

Holloway, 23, will enter the bout riding a six-fight winning streak -- the longest of his career -- which includes three knockouts and two submissions. The young Hawaiian was last in action on April 18, when he demolished fellow top 10 entrant Cub Swanson en route to a third-round guillotine choke finish.

Oliveira, 25, comes fresh off a guillotine finish of his own, having tapped Nik Lentz in their rematch two weeks ago in Brazil. “Charles do Bronx” has won six of his last eight outings stretching back to January 2012, notching submissions in all but one of those wins.
