Timothy Johnson-Luis Henrique Heavyweight Bout Added to UFC Fight Night 125 for Feb. 3 in Belem

While the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s debut in Belem, Brazil is still in need of a headlining fight, the promotion continues to build out the undercard.

The UFC has announced that UFC Fight Night 125 will feature a heavyweight contest pitting American Timothy Johnson against Brazil’s Luis Henrique Barbosa de Oliveira. The event is scheduled for Feb. 3 at the Guilherme Paraense Arena in Belem, better known as the Manguerinho Gymnasium.

The 32-year-old Johnson has alternated wins and losses since stepping into the UFC. In his promotional debut in April 2015, Johnson stopped Shamil Abdurakhimov in the first round, then dropped a unanimous decision to Jared Rosholt. The native North Dakotan has since taken wins over Polish standouts Marcin Tybura and Daniel Omielanczuk, but lost contests to both Alexander Volkov and more recently this past June, Junior Albini via first-round knockout.

Oliveira, 24, has put together a 2-3 mark inside the UFC and may be fighting to maintain his status on the promotion’s heavyweight roster. After a knockout loss to top contender Francis Ngannou in his December 2015 Octagon debut, “KLB” took back-to-back wins over Dmitry Smoliakov and Christian Colombo in 2016. This calendar year has been more cruel: Oliveira was punched out in the third round by Marcin Tybura in March, then lost a unanimous decision to Arjan Bhullar at UFC 215 in September.

The Johnson-Oliveira bout now joins the official UFC Fight Night 125 lineup, alongside previously confirmed bouts between flyweights Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Morales, as well as a middleweight clash between Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith. No main event has been announced as yet.
