Evans was denied a license to compete by the New York State Athletic Commission due to an undisclosed medical issue. UFC 205 takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday and is headlined by a lightweight championship clash between Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor.
Evans vs. Kennedy was scheduled for the Fox Sports 1-televised prelims. UFC 205 will move forward with 12 bouts. Evans, 37, has dropped back-to-back bouts in the Octagon, falling to Ryan Bader via unanimous decision at UFC 192 and Glover Teixeira via first-round knockout at UFC on Fox 19. Kennedy hasn’t competed since UFC 178, when he suffered a third-round TKO defeat to Yoel Romero in September 2014.
