‘TUF 19’ Finale Weigh-in Results: Frankie Edgar, B.J. Penn Cleared to Complete UFC Trilogy

Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn will complete their trilogy.

Edgar weighed in at 145.5 pounds for his third match against Penn (145) in “The Ultimate Fighter 19” Finale main event on Sunday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The four Season 19 finalists -- light heavyweights Corey Anderson (204) and Matt Van Buren (206), along with middleweights Dhiego Lima (185) and Eddie Gordon (186) -- also hit their intended marks at Saturday’s official weigh-in.

The 32-year-old Edgar halted a three-fight losing streak at UFC 162 a little less than a year ago, when he captured a unanimous decision over talented Brazilian Charles Oliveira. “The Answer” wrestled collegiately at Clarion University and pairs those skills with a frenetic standup attack that has baffled more than its share of opponents. Edgar already owns a pair of victories against Penn, having defeated him by unanimous decision at UFC 112 in April 2010 and again at UFC 118 some four months later. He owns a 10-4-1 record inside the Octagon, losing only to Benson Henderson (twice), Gray Maynard and Jose Aldo.

Penn has not fought since UFC on Fox 5 in December 2012, when he was overwhelmed by Tristar Gym welterweight standout Rory MacDonald. The popular 35-year-old Hawaiian remains one of only two men -- Randy Couture is the other -- to have won Ultimate Fighting Championship gold in two weight classes; however, he has never before competed as a featherweight. Penn has compiled a 12-8-2 mark in the UFC.

“The Ultimate Fighter 19” Finale -- which airs live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Fox Sports 1 -- will also feature a light heavyweight battle pitting Blackzilians representative Carlos Augusto Filho (232) against Derrick Lewis (264) and a flyweight duel matching unbeaten American Top Team export Justin Scoggins (124) with Dustin Ortiz (125).

Two hours prior, Fox Sports 1 will also carry four preliminary bouts: Kevin Lee (156) vs. Jesse Ronson (155), Jumabieke Tuerxun (136) vs. Leandro Issa (135.5), Adriano Martins (155.5) vs. Juan Manuel Puig (155) and Dan Spohn (205) vs. Patrick Walsh (206). The two remaining undercard matchups will stream to UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, as Sarah Moras (139) meets Alexis Dufresne (143) and Robert Drysdale (202.5) faces Keith Berish (203).
