'TUF 14' Episode 8 Nets 1.4 Million Viewers

Episode eight of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 earned an average of 1.4 million viewers for its Wednesday night broadcast on Spike TV.

Spike TV officials announced the news on Thursday afternoon, confirming that the episode posted a 1.1 household rating, as well as ratings of 1.37 and 1.81 in the male 18-49 and 18-34 categories, respectively. The overall viewership figure represents a slight drop from last week's episode, which took in an average of 1.5 million viewers.

Episode eight featured the first semifinal pairing of the season, as Team Bisping's Hamid Corassani took on Team Miller's Dennis Bermudez to decide one half of the featherweight final. Though “Akira” dictated the pace early by landing several serious shots to the dome of Bermudez, the Team Miller representative would have the last laugh.

Weathering Corassani's early storm, “The Menace” forced him against the cage and elevated Corassani with a high crotch. Slamming his man to the mat, Bermudez snatched Corassani's neck as the Team Bisping representative tried to stand. Forcing his foe's backside against the cage, Bermudez gradually adjusted his grip and cinched the choke, forcing Corassani to tap out.

Season 14 of the long-running reality show marks the series' last season on Spike TV for the foreseeable future. Beginning in January 2012, a new live format of the show will appear on FX, as per the UFC's new seven-year deal with Fox Networks.
