Spike TV Sets ‘Prelims Live’ Lineups for UFC 133, 134

Spike TV will broadcast hour-long “UFC Prelims Live” specials for both of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s August pay-per-view events.
Officials from the cable channel announced Monday that the undercard special for UFC 133 “Evans vs. Davis” will feature a 145-pound contest pitting unbeaten wrestler Chad Mendes against Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Rani Yahya, as well as a 205-pound tilt between European imports Vladimir Matyushenko and Alexander Gustafsson.
UFC 133 takes place Aug. 6 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and is scheduled to be headlined by returning ex-UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans, who will look to hand up-and-comer Phil Davis his first defeat. The evening’s co-main event will see former UFC middleweight titleholder Rich Franklin continue his 205-pound campaign against former Pride Fighting Championships star Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
Meanwhile, MMAJunkie.com reported Monday that Spike will air bouts featuring lightweights Spencer Fisher and Thiago Tavares, and welterweights Paulo Thiago and David Mitchell prior to Aug. 27’s UFC 134. That event will emanate from HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro and will be topped by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva’s title rematch with top contender Yushin Okami.
UFC 134 will mark Spike’s eighth “Prelims Live” special of 2011, with a further four expected before the end of the year.
