Source: Rolles Gracie Hurt, Jacob Volkmann-Lyle Beerbohm Promoted to WSOF 3 Main Card

Heavyweight jiu-jitsu ace Rolles Gracie has suffered an injury and will be unable to compete as expected at the World Series of Fighting’s upcoming third event.

Sherdog.com confirmed Gracie’s injury with sources close to the promotion. As a result, Gracie’s planned showdown with Dave Huckaba has been scrapped, and a preliminary lightweight duel between Jacob Volkmann and Lyle Beerbohm will be promoted to the NBC Sports Network broadcast. WSOF 3 takes place June 14 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and is headlined by a welterweight rematch between UFC veterans Jon Fitch and Josh Burkman.

Volkmann, 32, was released from the UFC this past February on the heels of his loss to Strikeforce import Bobby Green, who notched a third-round submission over the Minnesotan at UFC 156. The wrestler has earned a 6-2 record since making the cut to 155 pounds in 2010, picking up notable wins over Ronys Torres, Danny Castillo and Efrain Escudero along the way.

Beerbohm, 34, has won six straight fights since receiving his Strikeforce release in 2011 following consecutive defeats to Pat Healy and Shinya Aoki. “Fancy Pants” has already posted two victories to start 2013, notching finishes under the Washington state-based Northwest Fighting banner in January and March.
