Source: Georgia Commission’s Andy Foster to be Named CSAC Executive Director

Andy Foster will become the new executive director of the California State Athletic Commission, Sherdog.com confirmed Tuesday with a source close to the situation.

An official announcement on the matter is expected to come shortly. Foster was appointed as the executive director of the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission in 2008 and has held that office ever since, previously serving as the regulatory body’s head mixed martial arts referee. Additionally, Foster plays an active role within the Association of Boxing Commissions, serving as the ABC’s Region 2 director, as well as participating in a number of the ABC’s committees.

Prior to his career as a regulator, Foster competed in amateur boxing, kickboxing and grappling, as well as professional mixed martial arts, racking up a 9-2 record. He last competed in 2007 for defunct promotion BodogFight.

The CSAC’s executive director position was left vacant after George Dodd resigned in July. Kathi Burns briefly served as interim executive director before reportedly taking another position at the Office of Legal Affairs.
