Showtime Boxing Reveals Broadcast Team for Mayweather vs. McGregor
The broadcast team for the Floyd
Mayweather vs. Conor
McGregor fight will include recently-hired Bellator MMA
commentator Mauro Ranallo.
Showtime Boxing revealed the broadcast team for the upcoming boxing superfight via Sporting News on Friday. In addition to Ranallo, Brian Custer (host), Al Bernstein (color analyst), Paul Malianaggi (color analyst), Jim Gray (ringside reporter) and Steve Farhood (unofficial scorer) will cover the bout.
Before Friday’s announcement there was some doubt surrounding
Ranallo’s inclusion after the veteran broadcaster sign a
multi-event deal with Bellator. McGregor, of course, is the UFC’s
biggest star and promotion head Dana White was heavily involved in
negotiations to put the bout together. However, Showtime ultimately
elected to go with its usual boxing team.
Additionally, there will be some “guest commentators” who will provide mixed martial arts analysis. According to the report, those could be personalities from the UFC.
Mayweather vs. McGregor takes place on Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The 12-round fight airs on pay-per-view, but prices for the all-boxing event have not been set yet.
