Shooto Brazil recently announced that a bantamweight contest between a man and a woman is slated for Friday’s event in Rio de Janeiro.

Shooto Brazil’s website Tuesday brought news of the planned bout, which will pit one-fight veteran Emerson Falcao against pro debutant Juliana Velasquez. However, Falcao posted a message on his Facebook page indicating that an injury would prevent him competing until next year, so it is currently unclear if the fight will actually move forward.

Sherdog.com attempted to contact the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission for comment, but CABMMA officials could not be immediately reached.

Shooto Brazil 45 takes place Dec. 20 from the Miecimo da Silva Sports Complex and is headlined by a rematch between Lincoln da Sa and Alexandre Pantoja Passidomo.

Falcao made his lone MMA appearance this past April, as the Nova Uniao rep was submitted with a rear-naked choke at Upper Sport Combat 2 in 3:34.
