The Sacramento Police Department is investigating whether Nate Diaz committed assault during an altercation with fellow UFC fighter Clay Guida this past Friday, according to multiple reports.

The incident occurred at Combate Americas’ “Mexico vs. USA” event at the McClellan Conference Center in McClellan Park, Calif., as a near brawl allegedly occurred with Diaz and Guida as the main primary figures.

Guida’s manager, John Fosco, confirmed to MMAjunkie.com that the UFC veteran filed a police report following the incident. The melee allegedly started when Diaz shoved Guida from behind, sending “The Carpenter” into a guardrail and bloodying his lip. Guida is accusing Diaz of battery.

Guida’s training partner, “The Ultimate Fighter 27” competitor Tyler Diamond, claimed on social media that Diaz slapped him and one of “his groupies rabbit punched me” when he stepped in to try and de-escalate the situation.

“If it is found the victim was assaulted then a warrant request will be completed and submitted to the District Attorney’s office for review. “The filing decision will be up to the DA,” sheriff’s department spokesman Sgt. Shaun Hampton told MMAFighting.com.

Guida, who is scheduled to face Bobby Green at UFC 225 on June 9 in Chicago, recently called out Diaz on social media. Guida and Diaz initially fought at UFC 94 in January 2009, with Guida winning a split decision.
