Ryan Couture Returns at Strikeforce Challengers 19 on Sept. 23
Following the first setback of his career, the son of “The Natural”
will return to the cage next month.
Ryan Couture will square off against a to-be-named opponent at Strikeforce Challengers 19, which takes place Sept. 23 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The lightweight’s team, Xtreme Couture, made the announcement Wednesday.
Strikeforce has yet to formally announce the event, which will air live on premium cable channel Showtime.
Couture had his perfect professional record tarnished in his most recent outing, as he was outpointed by up-and-comer Matt Ricehouse at June’s Strikeforce Challengers 16.
Prior to the defeat, the 28-year-old son of Randy Couture had won his first two professional bouts. The 28-year-old submitted Lucas Stark with a triangle choke in his August 2010 pro debut and followed that victory with a third-round rear-naked choke submission of Lee Higgins in February.
