Ryan Bader Obliterates Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in UFC Fight Night 100 Main Event
It bordered on cruel and unusual punishment.
Ryan Bader won for the seventh time in eight outings and remained near the top of the Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight pecking order, as he disposed of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira with third-round ground-and-pound in the UFC Fight Night 100 “Bader vs. Nogueira 2” headliner (online betting) on Saturday at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Nogueira (22-8, 5-5 UFC) met his end 3:51 into Round 3.

Bader, now a free agent, joins Mauricio Rua as the only other man to have beaten Nogueira twice.
Almeida Buries Morales in Barnburner
Former Legacy Fighting Championship titleholder Thomas Almeida put away the previously unbeaten Albert Morales with punches in the second round of their bantamweight co-main event. Almeida (21-1, 5-1 UFC) closed the door 1:37 into Round 2, showing no lingering effects from his May 29 knockout loss to Cody Garbrandt.
Morales (6-1-1, 0-1-1 UFC) went out on his shield. The World Series of Fighting and Bellator MMA alum gave Almeida all he could handle in a crackling first round that saw both men hurt and in danger. Morales secured a takedown and jumped to the Brazilian’s back late in the round, but his bid for a rear-naked choke was unsuccessful. By the time they reached the middle frame, he was physically spent. Almeida buzzed him with an overhand right-left hook combination, and the situation snowballed from there. The 25-year-old Chute Boxe star flurried with unanswered punches before a left hook to the body sat down Morales and resulted in the stoppage.
Gadelha Handles Upstart Casey
Repeated takedowns, suffocating top control and violent punching bursts carried Claudia Gadelha to a unanimous verdict over Cortney Casey in a three-round women’s strawweight feature. All three cageside judges scored it 30-27 for Gadelha (14-2, 3-2 UFC), who rebounded from her July 8 defeat to 115-pound champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Casey (6-4, 2-3 UFC) was competitive but never truly threatened the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt. The Hawaii-based Arizona native spent much of her time fighting off her back, and while she landed a few upkicks on the imposing Gadelha, they were not nearly enough to turn the tide. The bout was not without controversy. Gadelha connected with an illegal kick after executing a takedown in the third round. Though it appeared to be only a glancing blow, Casey was not the same afterward.
Jotko Wins Fifth Straight
American Top Team’s Krzysztof Jotko continued his climb at 185 pounds, as he pocketed a unanimous decision against Thales Leites in a three-round middleweight showcase. Jotko (19-1, 6-1 UFC) swept the scorecards with 29-27, 30-27 and 30-27 marks from the judges.
After a productive first round that saw him initiate the clinch and execute a takedown, Leites (26-7, 11-6 UFC) looked like a man who had come to the realization that time had begun to pass him by. Jotko connected with powerful punches on the feet and countered the Brazilian’s takedowns into top position. The 27-year-old Pole was at his best in the third round, where he advanced to the mounted crucifix and battered Leites with serious ground-and-pound.
Jotko has rattled off five straight victories.
Dominant Usman Routs Alves
Blackzilians brute Kamaru Usman extended his winning streak to eight fights, as he took a unanimous verdict from Warlley Alves in a featured confrontation at 170 pounds. All three cageside judges scored it for Usman (9-1, 4-0 UFC): 29-27, 30-26 and 29-28.
Alves (10-2, 4-2 UFC) had no answer for the merciless pace pushed by “The Ultimate Fighter 21” winner. Usman marched forward with punches, forced the Brazilian to fight with his back to the fence and made life miserable for him in the clinch, as he utilized everything from standing elbows to nasty foot stomps. Alves tried to change his fortunes with a tight guillotine attempt in the third round, but Usman freed himself from the submission, assumed top position and moved to the mounted crucifix. After unleashing elbows, the 28-year-old locked down an arm-triangle choke at the base of the cage and bled the remaining seconds off the clock.
Moraes Outduels Replacement Ottow
Four-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Sergio Moraes enjoyed his homecoming, as he eked out a split decision over Zak Ottow in a three-round welterweight showcase. Judges Guilherme Bravo and Joseph Terrell saw it 30-27 for Moraes, while Hallison Pontes scored it 29-28 for Ottow.
Moraes (11-2-1, 5-1-1 UFC) made the first significant move. The 34-year-old Sao Paulo, Brazil, native took down Ottow in the first round, advanced to half guard and applied his ground-and-pound. From there, they spent the majority of their time on the feet. A short-notice fill-in for Michael Graves, Ottow (14-4, 1-1 UFC) mixed together effective punching combinations with kicks to the body and head. However, his lack of head movement proved problematic and left him susceptible to Moraes’ winging power punches, a handful of which staggered the King of the Cage and Resurrection Fighting Alliance veteran. Ottow flurried late with punches, but his final push went for naught on the scorecards.
The loss halted Ottow’s five-fight winning streak.
Ferreira Arm-Triangle Subdues Hermansson
MMA Masters standout Cezar Ferreira submitted Jack Hermansson with a second-round arm-triangle choke in a preliminary middleweight matchup. Hermansson (14-3, 1-1 UFC) yielded to the choke 2:11 into Round 2, the defeat snapping his nine-fight winning streak.
Ferreira (11-5, 7-3 UFC) kept the former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titleholder at bay with stinging straight lefts and thudding leg kicks. “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 1” winner struck for a takedown inside the first minute of the second round, advanced to an advantageous position and tightened the choke like an python on a mouse. Hermansson’s attempts to free himself proved futile.
Antigulov Drops Guillotine on Lima
Former Absolute Championship Berkut titleholder Gadzhimurad Antigulov submitted Marcos Rogerio de Lima with a guillotine choke in the first round of their undercard clash at 205 pounds. Lima (14-4-1, 3-2 UFC) waved the white flag 67 seconds into Round 1.
Antigulov (19-4, 1-0 UFC) wasted no time in enacting his plan. The 29-year-old struck for a takedown inside the first 20 seconds, passed guard through heavy fire and settled in side control. Antigulov surrendered his position to snatch the guillotine, wrapped the Brazilian in full guard without much resistance and squeezed for the stoppage.
Antigulov has won 13 fights in a row, 12 of them finishes.
Eduardo Punches Gamburyan into Retirement
Nova Uniao rep Johnny Eduardo stopped “The Ultimate Fighter 5” finalist Manny Gamburyan with second-round punches in a preliminary bantamweight encounter. Gamburyan (15-10, 6-8 UFC) succumbed to blows 46 seconds into Round 2 and promptly announced his retirement.
Eduardo (28-10, 3-2 UFC) withstood a pair of clubbing overhand rights from the Armenian judoka in the first round and answered with a steady diet of leg kicks. The shin-to-thigh contact left Gamburyan’s lead leg badly discolored and sent Eduardo into the second round with welcomed momentum. There, he sat down the incoming Gamburyan with a sharp jab, trailed him to the canvas and put him away with standing-to-ground punches.
The 36-year-old Eduardo has recorded 14 wins across his last 16 appearances.
Oliveira Choke Dismisses Colombo
Surging prospect Luis Henrique Barbosa de Oliveira submitted Christian Colombo with a third-round guillotine choke in a one-sided undercard tilt at 265 pounds. Colombo (8-2-1, 0-1-1 UFC) conceded defeat 2:12 into Round 3, as his seven-fight unbeaten streak screeched to a halt.
Oliveira (10-2, 2-1 UFC) dominated from start to finish. The 23-year-old Brazilian executed repeated takedowns and shredded Colombo with his ground-and-pound, drawing blood with a series of savage elbow strikes from top position. The Danish heavyweight wore down as the bout progressed. Midway through the third round, Oliveira caught the guillotine in a seated position and cranked for the finish.
Oliveira has won eight of his last nine fights.
Munhoz Guillotine Submits Scoggins
Former Resurrection Fighting Alliance champion Pedro Munhoz submitted Justin Scoggins with a guillotine choke in the second round of their preliminary bantamweight affair. Scoggins (11-3, 4-3 UFC) bowed out 1:55 into Round 2.
Very little went right for Munhoz (13-2, 3-2 UFC), up until the choke. Scoggins tore into him with sporadic spinning attacks and punch-kick combinations, some of them basic, some of them more exotic. The 24-year-old South Carolinian was in control as the bout spilled into the second round. However, Scoggins slipped on an attempted kick, and in his haste to return to his feet, he left his neck exposed. Munhoz clamped down on the guillotine and rolled into a mounted position before securing the choke in full guard.
The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak for Scoggins.
Inadvertent Stewart Head Butt Spurs Stoppage
Octagon rookie Darren Stewart benefitted from an inadvertent head butt, as he took out Nova Uniao’s Francimar Barroso with first-round punches in an undercard pairing at 205 pounds. Stewart (8-0, 1-0 UFC) brought it to a close 94 seconds into Round 1.
Barroso (18-6, 3-3 UFC) never got out of the gate. Stewart pressed an aggressive clinch and smothered the Brazilian against the cage. After a brief separation, they again engaged in close quarters. Stewart accidentally struck the former Shooto Americas champion with a head butt to the face. Barroso winced in immediate pain and looked for assistance from referee Eduardo Herdy. He found none. Stewart then bullied him to the ground and let his hands go until the stoppage was called.
