Two new undercard contests have been added to the World Series of Fighting’s sixth event, as one-time Bellator veteran Chad Robichaux faces Andrew Yates at bantamweight and Francisco France collides with Hans Stringer in a light heavyweight showdown.
Promotion officials this week announced the bookings, which will stream live on Sherdog.com prior to the evening’s main card on NBC Sports Network. WSOF 6 takes place at BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla., and is headlined by a welterweight title confrontation pitting Josh Burkman against Steve Carl.
Robichaux, 38, last competed in May 2012, when he submitted Joseph Sandoval in 51 seconds to rebound from back-to-back defeats. “Robo” won his first nine fights before suffering a third-round technical knockout to then-Bellator champion Zach Makovsky in a 2011 non-title affair.
Fourteen years the junior of his upcoming opponent, Yates has been perfect in his pro career thus far, scoring seven straight wins. “The Golden Boy” picked up his most recent victory in January, when he submitted Anthony Sessions with a rear-naked choke under Colorado’s Bush Cree Promotions banner.
France, 30, has alternated wins and losses in his last four fights. The 11-fight pro last stepped into the cage one year ago, earning the eighth submission win of his career at Shamrock Promotions “Legacy.”
Stringer, meanwhile, owns 28 pro outings to his credit and has not lost since November 2010. The 26-year-old Dutchman fought last on home soil, scoring a first-round technical knockout over Romanian talent Marius Panin this past December.
