Robichaux Replaces Injured Garcia, Faces Campuzano in Legacy 12 Title Headliner

Steve Garcia has suffered a training injury and will not compete as expected against Will Campuzano in the Legacy Fighting Championship 12 headliner. Instead, Campuzano now meets Bellator veteran Chad Robichaux for the vacant LFC flyweight title at the July 13 event.

Sherdog.com recently confirmed the change with LFC promoter Mick Maynard. LFC 12 takes place at Houston’s Arena Theater and features a co-headlining welterweight attraction between Jay Hieron and Mike Bronzoulis. The show airs live on HDNet.

Robichaux, 36, posted 13 consecutive victories to start his career before running into then- Bellator bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky, who stopped “Robo” via technical knockout 13 months ago. Robichaux would then quickly submit to a Jonathan Mackles guillotine choke this past July before righting his ship earlier this month, finishing UFC veteran Joseph Sandoval with a north-south choke in 51 seconds at LFC 11.

Ten years younger than his new opponent, Campuzano enters the contest riding back-to-back victories. Campuzano wrapped a two-fight Octagon stint early last year after suffering consecutive losses to Nick Pace and Chris Cariaso. The Texan responded to his UFC release by submitting Randy Hinds with a rear-naked choke in April 2011 but would not compete again for more than a year. Campuzano returned to action roughly two weeks ago, knocking out Joshua Sampo with a knee to the head on May 19.
