In his first appearance since April 27, 2014, the Chute Boxe mainstay took a three-round unanimous decision from welterweight Artenas Young in the Legacy Fighting Championship 50 headliner on Friday at the Arena Theatre in Houston. All three cageside judges scored it for Santos (20-16): 29-28, 30-27 and 29-28.

Young (10-10) fought well in spurts and countered effectively at times, but he lacked the aggression necessary to deal with the Brazilian. Santos marched forward for much of their 15-minute scrap, chopping away with leg kicks and letting loose with wild haymakers. Though many of his shots missed the mark, they kept Young on his heels.

Santos did his best work in the third round, where he executed a pair of takedowns and advanced to the back on two occasions. Young avoided a late rear-naked choke attempt, but the decision was lost.

In the co-main event, former Legacy lightweight champion Ray Blodget tapped Bellator MMA alum Jared Chaffee with a first-round guillotine choke. Blodget (10-3) brought it to a close 3:38 into round one, as he won for the third time in as many outings.

Chaffee (5-2) swarmed with early punches, backed his 37-year-old counterpart to the fence and unleashed a standing elbow on the break. None of it mattered. Blodget turned the tide with a ringing knee strike to the face that bloodied Chaffee’s mouth and forced him to retreat. He then drove him to all fours, baited him into a guillotine choke and squeezed his way to the submission.

The 31-year-old Chaffee has lost two of his past three fights.

Meanwhile, Houston Muay Thai rep Justin Reiswerg submitted Jonathan Harris with a first-round rear-naked choke in a lightweight showcase. Harris (10-6) conceded defeat 1:43 into round one.

Reiswerg (9-5) floored the Gracie Barra export with a clean left hook, moved into top position and fired away with hammerfists before advancing to the back. Harris put up a brief struggle before yielding the choke. The tapout followed soon after.

The victory snapped a two-fight losing streak for Reiswerg.

In other action, Rey Trujillo (19-15) claimed a unanimous decision from Charles Cheeks III (9-5) in their three-round catchweight confrontation at 150 pounds; Alex Black (9-4) tapped Michael Rodriguez (6-5) with a rear-naked choke 1:57 into round one of their battle at 145 pounds; Roberto Sanchez (4-0) submitted David Acosta with a rear-naked choke 4:25 into the third round of their flyweight pairing; Jeremy Hardy (3-0) put away Dale Mitchell (6-7) with punches 3:20 into round one of their heavyweight tilt; Gregg Dulani Perry (1-0) tapped Shakeem Richardson (0-1) with an armbar 3:20 into the second round of their match at 135 pounds; Chad Cook (10-10) submitted Chris Rose (0-2) with a rear-naked choke 4:28 into round one of their heavyweight encounter; and David Kelly (1-0) took care of Richard Copley (1-1) with punches 45 seconds into the second round of their clash at 155 pounds.
