According to a report from the Las Vegas Sun, 10-year mixed martial arts veteran Mike Whitehead is expected to be sentenced to probation after pleading guilty under the Alford doctrine to a count of attempted sexual assault.

Whitehead must reportedly now register as a sex-offender and will receive a lifetime of court supervision. The fighter is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 19 at 9 a.m. before Judge Douglas W. Herndon.

Under the Alford doctrine, the accused does not admit that he or she committed the act and alleges innocence. However, the accused also admits that enough evidence exists that a prosecutor could likely convince a judge or jury to find the defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The 30-year-old was charged in relation to an alleged incident at a Las Vegas home on April 10, 2010, where two women reportedly attended a barbecue. After alcohol was allegedly consumed, Whitehead is accused of inviting the women to sleep in his bed that night.

According to the report, one of the women is claiming that she woke up that night to find her pants down and Whitehead having sex with her. The woman told police she asked him to stop, and the fighter reportedly continued for “about three minutes” before complying. The other woman in Whitehead's bed was also allegedly groped during the incident.

Whitehead was reportedly charged with several more crimes when he turned himself in on April 14 of last year, but the charges were dropped during his plea negotiation. Police entered his house with a search warrant, reportedly finding that one of the fighter's upstairs bedrooms was being used to grow over 40 marijuana plants. According to the Las Vegas Sun, Whitehead was initially charged with a count of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault and open and gross lewdness, but no charges were filed concerning the marijuana plants.

A veteran of the International Fight League, Strikeforce and UFC competition, Whitehead last competed on Dec. 10 at Pure Fighting Championships, taking home a split decision over fellow UFC castaway Eddie Sanchez. The Oregon native's lone Octagon appearance came at UFC 57 in 2006, where he dropped a unanimous decision to Keith Jardine.
