Report: UFC Cuts ‘The Ultimate Fighter 16’ Finalist Mike Ricci

Mike Ricci is no longer a part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster.

According to a recent report by Yahoo! Sports, Ricci was released by the Las Vegas-based promotion after three fights. Multiple outlets have since confirmed the transaction.

Ricci made it to the welterweight finale on Season 16 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” where he lost a unanimous decision to Colton Smith in December. Undersized at 170 pounds, the Tristar Gym representative elected to return lightweight following the defeat. He picked up his first Octagon victory in March, scoring a unanimous verdict over “TUF: The Smashes” alum Colin Fletcher at UFC 158.

Ricci’s fate was likely sealed in his most recent outing, however, as he dropped a lackluster split decision to Myles Jury at UFC 165. “The Martian” is 7-2 outside of the Octagon, including a November 2009 triumph over current UFC talent Jordan Mein.
