Report: Pace-McDonald Slated for UFC Fight Night 24

Michael McDonald: Jeff Sherwood | Sherdog.com

Bantamweight prospects Nick Pace and Michael McDonald have agreed to meet at UFC Fight Night 24, according to a report from MMAWeekly.com.

While neither the matchup nor the event has been announced by the promotion, the show is expected to go down on March 26 at Key Arena in Seattle, and will likely be headlined by a light heavyweight duel between Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Tito Ortiz.

Pace suffered the first loss of his career against Demetrious Johnson in September, but rebounded with a victory over Will Campuzano at “The Ultimate Fighter 12” finale in December. The Team Tiger Schulmann representative ended the fight late in the third round with an innovative submission which he dubbed the “Pace Choke.”

Prior to entering the Zuffa ranks, Pace won five straight while competing for Ring of Combat and Bellator Fighting Championships, including a highlight-reel flying knee knockout of Collin Tebo at a June 2009 Bellator event.

While Pace was successful in his UFC debut, McDonald will be stepping into the Octagon for the first time in Seattle. “Mayday” has won four consecutive fights, including a 3-0 stint in Tachi Palace Fights, during which he earned victories over WEC veterans Manny Tapia and Cole Escovedo.

Most recently, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt submitted Clint Godfrey at WEC 52 in November with a first-round armbar. McDonald has finished all 11 of his career victims and holds seven of his wins by knockout. The only loss on his ledger came to Escovedo at a May 2009 Palace Fighting Championship event, where McDonald was knocked out in the second round.
