Report: Former UFC Champ Tito Ortiz Arrested on Suspicion of DUI in Los Angeles

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing his car in Los Angeles.

Local outlet KTLA first reported the news, citing a press release from the California Highway Patrol. Ortiz was taken into custody at 4 a.m. after his car crashed on the 405 Freeway near Sepulveda and Santa Monica boulevards, according to the release.

The release stated that Ortiz was driving a 2012 Porsche Panamera and had two passengers in the car. No one was injured in the crash.

According to a report from MMAJunkie.com, Ortiz had a blood alcohol level of 0.12. The legal limit in California is 0.08. MMA Junkie also reported that Ortiz posted a $15,000 bond at a Los Angeles police substation, where he was released this morning.

Ortiz, 38, was expected to headline Bellator MMA’s inaugural pay-per-view event against Quinton Jackson on Nov. 2, but a neck injury forced Ortiz to withdraw from the bout. It remains unclear if Ortiz will return to compete for the promotion. The former “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” last fought at UFC 148, where he lost a unanimous decision to Forrest Griffin and temporarily retired after the bout. He was inducted into the UFC’s Hall of Fame that same weekend.
