Report: Bellator MMA’s Alexander Shlemenko Popped for Elevated Testosterone Ratio
Former Bellator
MMA middleweight champion Alexander
Shlemenko has tested positive for an elevated
testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio following his knockout
victory against Melvin
Manhoef on Feb. 13 according to a report by John Morgan.
Feb. 13’s bout took place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., placing the contest under the jurisdiction of the California State Athletic Commission. The CSAC has yet to confirm the report, but Bellator MMA President Scott Coker acknowledged the news:
“We are disappointed to hear about the results of Shlemenko’s drug test,” Coker told MMAJunkie.com. “As I’ve stated previously, performance enhancing drugs have no place in this sport, and Bellator fully supports the commission in enforcing harsh penalties to deter fighters from taking banned substances.”
If the results are upheld, Shlemenko and Bellator MMA can expect the fighter to be suspended and his win overturned.
