Randamie-Webber Targeted for ‘Diaz vs. Cyborg’ Undercard

The first preliminary contest for Strikeforce “Diaz vs. Cyborg” is nearly set, as Germaine de Randamie will likely square off against Stephanie Webber on Jan. 29 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Sherdog.com today confirmed the matchup with a source close to the bout, who said that while both fighters have agreed to the contest, bout agreements have yet to be signed. The fight was first reported by MMARising.com.

Randamie is a Dutch kickboxer with a sterling muay Thai record of 48-0. Despite her extensive striking experience, the “Iron Lady” has fought only twice under MMA rules. In her 2008 MMA debut, Randamie was submitted by Vanessa Porto via first-round armbar. Last September, she returned to MMA and evened her record with a unanimous decision victory over Nikohl Johnson.

Webber also holds a 1-1 record in MMA. She began her career December 2009, losing her debut via armbar submission to Julianna Pena. The Washington resident would battle back 11 months later, however, when she scored her first career victory by submitting Keri Scarr.

“Diaz vs. Cyborg” will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Nick Diaz and challenger Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos, and will also feature a middleweight title showdown between title-holder Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Robbie Lawler. Rounding out the main card will be a heavyweight tilt between 1982 Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker and Scott Carson, as well as a 205-pound scrap featuring ADCC champion Roger Gracie and UFC veteran Trevor Prangley.
