According to the APD statement, the driver of a separate vehicle involved in the accident -- “a pregnant female in her 20s” -- was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.
Jones is scheduled to defend his title against challenger Anthony Johnson on May 23 in the main event of UFC 187. The 27-year-old New York native drew headlines in January when it was revealed that he tested positive for cocaine prior to his title defense against Daniel Cormier at UFC 182.
Late Sunday night, the UFC made comment:
“We are aware that the Albuquerque Police Department is interested in speaking to Jon Jones regarding his possible involvement in a motor vehicle accident,” said the statement. “We are in the process of gathering facts and will reserve further comment until more information is available.”
