Ben Fodor will attempt to earn his first World Series of Fighting victory when he locks horns with Roberto Yong on Sept. 18.
WSOF officials announced the 160-pound catch-weight bout Tuesday. WSOF 23 takes place at Comerica Theatre in Phoenix and is headlined by a lightweight title rematch between Justin Gaethje and Luis Palomino. The evening’s main card will air on the NBC Sports Network beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
Fodor, who is better known by his superhero alias, “Phoenix Jones,” lost his promotional debut against Emmanuel Walo via unanimous decision in a 175-pound affair on April 10. The 27-year-old Seattle native is 5-1-1 as a professional, including three victories inside the distance.
A native of Glendale, Ariz., Yong is 2-2 since turning pro in 2014. All four of his bouts have come with the Arizona-based Rage in the Cage promotion. He enters the fight with Fodor on a two-fight losing streak, including a technical knockout loss to Estevan Payan in his most recent outing on June 6.
