Paul Daley Says He’s ‘Done’ with Bellator After Completion of Last Two Fights on Contract

The mere mention of Michael Page at a Bellator MMA press conference has drawn the ire of Paul Daley, whose days with the organization may now be numbered.

“Semtex” ripped the California-based promotion on Facebook for its heavy emphasis on Page, who did not compete at all in 2017. Bellator President Scott Coker said on Thursday that he would like to see Page more active this year.

“Scott Coker talking about Page at the Bellator presser, Bellator are sooooooo on [his] ass it’s sickening,” Daley wrote. “He hasn’t fought MMA in how long, his last performance in boxing and MMA were terrible.

“I beat Lorenz Larkin, former UFC guy, top 6 when he left the organization...by KO and they sweep it under the rug? and then sideline me....”

Daley earned an impressive triumph at Bellator 183, knocking out Larkin 2:40 into the second round on Sept. 23. The British slugger fought three times in 2017, also falling to Rory MacDonald via submission and knocking out Brennan Ward with a flying knee. Daley, who isn’t currently booked for a Bellator event in 2018, has been linked to a potential fight with Page, but the matchup has yet to become a reality. The two would-be rivals did briefly scuffle outside of the cage following Daley’s loss to MacDonald at Bellator 179.

Now, according to Daley, the Page fight won’t be happening in Bellator at all. Daley has plans to leave the organization once he fulfills his current contract.

“I’m gonna fight out my contract.....THAT MVP Fight WONT BE HAPPENING...under the Bellator banner anyways....So f--k Bellator, 18 more months in this game and two more fights for Bellator and I’m done.”

It’s unclear if Daley means he is done with just Bellator or MMA altogether. A return to the UFC would seem unlikely though, as Daley was banned from the Las Vegas-based promotion after hitting Josh Koscheck with a cheap shot after their bout at UFC 113.
