Patrick Cote, Kyle Noke to Coach Welterweights on ‘TUF: Canada vs. Australia’

The next international edition of “The Ultimate Fighter” is now official.

UFC President Dana White announced the new season on Friday, revealing that Patrick Cote and Kyle Noke will coach a field of welterweight hopefuls on “TUF: Canada vs. Australia,” which begins filming this fall.

Also known as “TUF: Nations,” the show is expected to debut in early 2014. It will air on Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada, while FX will broadcast the series in Australia. U.S. broadcast plans were not revealed. Tryouts for the show begin in September and will be held in Toronto and Sydney. Further information for fighters hoping to try out will be posted July 1 at www.ufc.com/TUFNations.

The season marks the third iteration of “TUF” to use the country-vs.-country format. The ninth season of the show featured teams from the United States and the United Kingdom going head-to-head, while the U.K. competed against Australia during last year’s “TUF: Smashes.”

Both Cote (Pictured) and Noke are alumni of “The Ultimate Fighter,” with Cote competing on the fourth installment of the show and Noke participating in Season 11. A 10-year pro, Cote began his career at light heavyweight before making the cut to 185 pounds and earning a title shot against Anderson Silva. “The Predator” dropped to welterweight for his most recent outing -- a unanimous decision win over former Strikeforce talent Bobby Voelker this past March at UFC 158.

Noke, meanwhile, returned to 170 pounds last fall after suffering consecutive defeats to Ed Herman and Andrew Craig at middleweight. The Aussie was successful in his return to 170 pounds, knocking out Charlie Brenneman with a flurry of strikes in just 45 seconds at UFC 152. Known as “KO,” the 33-year-old has stopped 75 percent of his victims inside the distance, picking up eight submissions and seven knockouts over his decade-long career.
