Palhares, Camozzi Injured; Opponents Okami, Roberts to Square off at UFC 150

A pair of middleweight injuries has altered the card for UFC 150, as promotion officials announced Wednesday that Rousimar Palhares and Chris Camozzi have been forced to withdraw from their respective contests against Yushin Okami and Buddy Roberts. As a result, Okami and Roberts will now face each other at the Aug. 11 event.

Headlined by a lightweight title rematch between reigning champion Benson Henderson and ex-titlist Frankie Edgar, UFC 150 takes place at the Pepsi Center in Denver.

Okami, 31, enters the cage following back-to-back defeats for the first time in his near-decade-long career. “Thunder” posted three straight Octagon wins in 2010 before receiving a crack at longtime 185-pound champion Anderson Silva last year at UFC 134, where he was out-struck by “The Spider” and finished in the second round. Most recently, Okami suffered a technical knockout against Tim Boetsch on home soil at February’s UFC 144 in Japan.

Roberts, 29, has not lost in three years. The Jackson’s MMA representative won five straight fights prior to his Octagon debut, which took place at UFC on FX 3. The middleweight outpointed Caio Magalhaes at the June 8 event, taking a unanimous decision from the cageside judges. Roberts has stopped nine of his 12 career victims by either knockout or submission and has tasted defeat just twice in more than five years as a pro.
