One FC to Debut Groundbreaking Amateur MMA Series

One Fighting Championship will announce this week the introduction of a series of amateur events which will be taking place all across Asia in 2014. Entitled the “One Amateur MMA Series,” fights will be held on a monthly basis under the supervision of One FC officials.

One FC is already working closely with existing amateur promotions such as Malaysian Invasion MMA, which is organized by One FC sponsor Tune Talk. Also, Academy Fighting Championship in the Philippines will likely all be integrated into the series.

Hume believes in the Amateur MMA Series.
Promotion officials also stated that they would be working with existing gyms and organizations within the One FC Network such as Road FC, the URCC, Ultimate Beatdown, Tiger Muay Thai, Team Lakay and Evolve MMA to set up regular amateur “smoker” fights which would take place under a standardized rule set and be supervised by a qualified One FC official.

The One Amateur MMA Series is the brainchild of One FC Vice President of Operations Matt Hume.

The former professional fighter, who was the Rules Director for Pride Fighting Championships and Dream, believes it will help to develop the next generation of Asian talent.

“This will be the biggest and most professionally run MMA amateur series in the world and I’m very proud to be driving this project. There are thousands of talented fighters in Asia and this now gives One FC the opportunity to work closely with them and support their development through competition,” he told Sherdog.com.

The initiative will kick off in 2014 and monthly events will be held all across Asia with partners in South Korea, China, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, India, Pakistan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Victor Cui sees potential in Amateur MMA.
All the results from the events will be officially recorded to allow amateur fighters to put together a verifiable record and One FC CEO Victor Cui told Sherdog.com that he believes the One Amateur MMA Series has the potential to be a game changer for Asian MMA.

“This is the largest amateur MMA series in Asia that brings together every major gym, partner, and current amateur events as part of the One FC Network. This is game changing for MMA in Asia as One FC continues to build on our 90 percent market share and by leading the amateur MMA development by holding amateur events in major cities across Asia and regularly at once a month,” stated Cui.

Cui continued by saying, “This is big. Very big and I’m excited to be building this Asia-wide amateur series because we have already received tremendous support from our sponsors, partners, and gyms on this initiative.”
