Ramsey Nijem will attempt to slow the roll of up-and-coming Brazilian lightweight Carlos Diego Ferreira when the two square off at UFC 177 next month.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials on Sunday announced the matchup. One day prior, the UFC added a heavyweight bout pitting Anthony Hamilton against Ruan Potts to the Aug. 30 event at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif.

Nijem has seen ups and downs in his eight-fight Octagon tenure, but “The Ultimate Fighter 13” runner-up is currently riding back-to-back wins over Justin Edwards and Beneil Dariush. Ferreira spent three and a half years building a 9-0 record on the Texas MMA circuit before his June 28 UFC debut, where he submitted Colton Smith with a 38-second rear-naked choke.
Hamilton and Potts will be looking to rebound after suffering quick losses in their respective UFC debuts. Former Maximum Fighting Championships titlist Hamilton was tapped with an Alexey Oleinik neck crank on June 28, while South Africa’s Potts was punched out by Soa Palelei in May.
