Nate Diaz Mocks ‘Silly’ Text Message Exchange Between Tyron Woodley, Georges St. Pierre

It took him some time to get to this point, but Nate Diaz knows a little something about getting “money fights.”

However, he doesn’t necessarily approve of the methods some of his peers are using to pad their bank account. Case in point: Recently crowned welterweight champion Tyron Woodley posted a text message exchange on Twitter between he and Georges St. Pierre in which the two men express interest in squaring off in the Octagon.

"I seen Woodley and GSP shaking hands and text messaging 'let's make a fight.' That's boring," Diaz said on UFC 202 “Embedded” Episode 1. "You just killed the whole thing for our sake. Don’t no one want to see no fight that some friends set up. F--k that."

After his first-round knockout of Robbie Lawler at UFC 201, Woodley said he would prefer to take “money fights” against the likes of St. Pierre or Nick Diaz rather than face the division’s current No. 1 contender, Stephen Thompson. Woodley may not get his wish, as UFC President Dana White said the champion’s first title defense would indeed come against Thompson.

At this point, the UFC hasn’t officially announced anything regarding Woodley’s next move, which the fighter himself was quick to point out:

Regardless of what might happen, Woodley’s approach to securing a marquee fight doesn’t sit well with Diaz, who will rematch Conor McGregor in the UFC 202 (Vegas Odds) headliner on Saturday. The Stockton, Calif., native prefers a good old fashioned rivalry to a text message agreement.

"How about me and my guys versus you and your guys? Now that's entertainment. Let's see that. That's good TV and that's real s--t," Diaz said. “The other guys setting up fights through text messages. Now that’s silly.”
