The former Strikeforce champion took a three-round unanimous decision from 2008 Olympic gold medalist Satoshi Ishii in the Bellator 169 headliner on Friday at the 3Arena in Dublin. Lawal (20-5) carried all three scorecards in a grinding affair that had the natives restless.

In the featherweight co-main event, SBG Ireland prospect James Gallagher kept his perfect professional record intact, as he submitted Anthony Taylor with a third-round rear-naked choke. Gallagher (5-0) coaxed the tapout 1:52 into Round 3.
Taylor (1-2) swung for the fences and landed occasionally, but he mostly misfired on the feet. Gallagher softened him with leg kicks before advancing to his back and cinching the choke. The promising 20-year-old Irishman has finished four of his five opponents.
Meanwhile, former M-1 Global champion Daniel Weichel submitted Brian Moore with a first-round arm-triangle choke in a featured attraction at 145 pounds. Weichel (38-9) brought it to a close 4:44 into Round 1, as he won for the third time in as many outings.
The loss snapped a modest two-fight winning streak for Moore (9-5), who served as a short-notice fill-in for the injured Paul Redmond.
In other action, Sinead Kavanagh (4-0) captured a unanimous decision from the previously unbeaten Elina Kallionidou (5-1) in a three-round women’s bantamweight showcase; and Cameron Else (4-3) stopped Dylan Tuke (3-1) with punches 20 seconds into the first round of their featured clash at 145 pounds.
