If Ronda Rousey gets by Bethe Correia at UFC 190, she will likely already have her next foe lined up.
UFC President Dana White revealed during a Friday press conference that a 135-pound showdown between Miesha Tate and Jessica Eye has been targeted for an as-yet-to-be determined event in June. The winner of that bout is expected to receive the next bantamweight title shot, assuming Rousey beats Correia on Aug. 1.
Tate is no stranger to encounters with Rousey, having fallen to the Olympic judoka twice – once in Strikeforce and once in the UFC. “Cupcake” has won three straight since falling to Rousey at UFC 168, besting Liz Carmouche, Rin Nakai and Sara McMann in succession.
A three-time Bellator veteran, Eye picked up her first official UFC triumph on Nov. 15, scoring a second-round TKO triumph over Leslie Smith at UFC 180. The 28-year-old Cleveland native is 11-2-1 as a professional, with seven victories via decision.
