“MVP’s” latest victim sports a dismal 1-6 boxing record, which mirrors the criticism Page has faced since beginning his professional combat sports career. Throughout Page’s nine fights in Bellator, only recently has he taken on opponents that wouldn’t be described as “journeymen.” Bellator has been criticized for moving Page along too slowly -- or protecting his undefeated record, depending on perspective. However, Page’s sophomore boxing bout comes just a month after Bellator 200, where a busted-up and humiliated David Rickels asked out of their fight less than a minute into the second round. Rickels’ retirement gave Page an official TKO and easily the most impressive win of his MMA career.
Bellator President Scott Coker has allowed “MVP” to take boxing matches while under contract with the promotion. Page says he plans on continuing to compete in both sports as he awaits his next Bellator fight.
