The co-main event of UFC Fight Night 37 has undergone a major change, as Michael Johnson will replace an injured Ross Pearson in London.

UFC officials Thursday announced that a knee injury forced Pearson to withdraw from his bout against Melvin Guillard, who will now face his former Blackzilians teammate at the March 8 event from the O2 Arena. UFC Fight Night 37 airs live on UFC Fight Pass and is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Alexander Gustafsson and Jimi Manuwa.

Johnson, 27, has won five of his last seven fights and closed out last year on a two-fight winning streak. The “TUF 12” finalist rebounded in style from consecutive defeats to Myles Jury and Reza Madadi, outpointing Joe Lauzon this past August before knocking out veteran lightweight Gleison Tibau at UFC 168.

Guillard, 30, was expected to rematch Pearson after landing an accidental knee to the Brit’s head while he was ruled down this past October at UFC Fight Night 30. Prior to that no-contest, “The Young Assassin” kicked off 2013 in impressive fashion, knocking out Mac Danzig this past July at UFC on Fox 8.
